Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Miss Crozier’s class took part in a coastal workshop today. The aim of the programme was to raise awareness of our coast and associated issues with it. Led by Ben from Eco Schools, everyone firstly engaged with the theory aspects before setting off down to the shore.
The children completed a beach litter audit and discovered that the highest volume of litter on our localised shoreline was infact glass. An extensive clean up and litter pick then took place followed by some exploration of different facets of the area.
For the second year running, Mr Manus O’Boyle and Mrs Pat Rooney, from The Pantry Foodbank visited Sacred Heart P.S. to collect our donations to their charitable service.
The response from our school community to this initiative was tremendous once again and we thank you all for your generous contributions. Pictured is only a snapshot of the amount of goods that were donated.
Similarly, we extend our thanks to staff member Annette Kelly for her co-ordination of the undertaking and to the Student Council for their efforts in helping with this.
A wonderful evening was had by all at the switching on of the Christmas tree lights at Murlough Sands. Our school choir were immense under the stewardship of Mr Doyle and their selection of festive favourites kept the huge crowd in attendance entertained throughout. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
As part of our initiatives within the Scoil Spreagtha project, we have created a Tá Gaelige Againn board in school.
Every week there will be a focal na seachtaine (word of the week). This week’s word was ‘maidin mhaith.’ We will also be introducing a Gaeilgeor na Míosa (Irish Speaker of the Month award).
