*** Student Council - 2023/2024 ***
Our Student Council for this academic year was elected through democratic vote at the end of September. The grouping have already undertaken meetings and discussion groups over the course of Term 1. They are looking forward to influencing and implementing many school initiatives throughout our 50th anniversary year.
Our Student Council represents the views of all our pupils. It gives children the opportunity to make their voices heard and feel part of the whole school community. Our new council was elected in mid September and information on their endeavours will appear here.

Halloween Disco
The children would like music from Halloween movies e.g. Hocus Pocus. They would like to create their own decorations for the hall. P1's to make pumpkins, P2/3 to make skeletons and bones, P4/5 to make witches and wizards, P6/7 to create Monsters.
Christmas Productions
P1/2/3- Busy Busy Bethlehem, P4/5/6/7 Christmas Concert (dance, music, poetry and carols) Whole School Bingo and Raffle after Christmas Concert!!!!!
Playground
Council members requested a new set of goal posts and extra storage containers for our new equipment.
Afterschool Provision
Possible ideas for Term 2 provision includes a STEM building/construction club. Some suggested dance but decided against it as we do dance during PE.

School Council Update
The school council met on the 18th May 2018. Items on the agenda included;
- Sports Day Activites to include sprint races, egg and spoon races, obstacle courses, throwing activites and family fun games.
- Primary 7 celebrations for finishing school to include a mass, assembly and a keep sake item for all children.
- New fundraising ideas suggested for a movie night to use the new board in the assembly hall.
Well done to all involved!
School Council Update
The school council met on the 15th March 2018. Items on the agenda included;
- Term 3 after school to include cricket, dancing and coding.
- Introduction of a playpark timetable to ensure all classes have equal time using the new equipment.
- Easter celebrations to include an Easter Egg hunt and decorating eggs with chocolate.
- End of school trip to Funtasia in Drogheda to include activities such as swimming, soft play and bowling.

School Council Update 5th March 2017
The School Council met on Friday 2nd March. Items on the Agenda included;
-New School Buddies to do important school jobs such as manage iPads, tidy library, tidy ICT suite,
Monitor Playground, Eco Monitors etc.
-Designing a new Football Strip for both girls and boys.
-Updates on Building Improvements front entrance, Playpark and Eco Garden. The Front Entrance takes time but we should have news on the Play Park and Eco Garden in the next few weeks.
-Upcoming Sporting Events (Soccer, Gaelic and Multi Sport).
-Education City Homework- everyone really enjoys it and finds it very beneficial. It will be ordered again for next year.
-Sports Day will take place on 9th June- weather permitting.
-The theme of upcoming Art Workshops will be The Solar System, The Jungle and Houses and Homes.

School Council Update 14th April 2017
The school council designed a lovely new football kit and jackets for wearing to school. They studied various designs and decided on the kit below (style 3 for the shorts) and plain red socks. The school Council thought that our pupils would love to buy the kit therefore order forms will be available early May.

Afterschool Clubs
The School Council were impressed with new the range of Afterschool Clubs on offer. They highlighted that consideration should be given to future clubs in sewing and coding.

The School Council agreed the programme of events for Sports Day should include:

Staying Safe in School
The School Council believes everyone knows what to do if they feel worried or concerned. They do feel another Assembly would benefit the younger children. School Council looked at the Childline Assembly/ workshops and thought the activities looked fun and would help everyone stay safe.
School Council Update 29th Sept 2017
Our newly elected School Council met on Friday at lunch time. They were very enthusiastic and democratic- items on the Agenda included;
-Afterschool Clubs (Council made suggestions for the selection of Afterschool Clubs for Term 1.2.)
-Halloween Preparations (Council voted for a fancy dress disco in the Aquinas Hall.)
- Trip to W5 (Council provided feedback on which scientific investigation workshops they would like to attend.)
-Night at the Movies (Council voted for which films should be shown and the selection of treats available.)
-Council discussed range of Playground Games and equipment - it was decided to order additional skipping ropes.
Next meeting will take place on Monday 12th November at lunch time!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
