We have been really busy this week in P.2. We were very lucky this week to have a STEM workshop on animals. We all made our own animals and talked to our friends about what makes them special and unique. We have been working very hard on revising our number bonds to 10 and addition within 10. We have also been ordering numbers to 20 . Today we went outside and did our Maths lesson in the sun and wrote our sums all over the playground using chalk. I hope Mr Doyle doesn’t mind !! The boys and girls in P.2 have also been working hard on forming sentences using our phonics to help us. We have had great fun outside in the play park making wonderful memories with our friends. Thank you all so much for the warm welcome into P.2. I have had a wonderful couple of weeks and I am so excited for the year ahead.

This week, we focused on the topic book The Little Red Hen. We sequenced the story, splitting it into a beginning, middle and end, we found rhyming strings and described and painted the characters. We made bread for Little Red Hen, built farmyards, made buns in the malleable area and made paper plate Little Red Hen’s in the creative area. In ICT, we learned how to code using the Scratch Junior app were we created a scene from Little Red Hen adding backgrounds, sprites and speech bubbles. In WAU, we learned about the lifecycle of a hen. In Numeracy, we focused on sorted by shape, colour, type and size; we then moved onto sort using a Venn diagram. We counted, ordered and sequenced numbers to 20; focusing on the numbers 11, 12 and 13 and even made a “Magic Maths” display. This week was also Poetry week and we learned the nursery rhyme Little Boy Blue (check out our video😀😀). It was also Bike Week and we had the “Ultimate Go-Kart Race.” Congratulations to our Grand Prix winner Casey - Well done👏🏻👏🏻🏅🎖🥇🏆 🏆🏆
First Week Back in School
What a great start the P2/3 class has made to being back at school. They had lots of fun learning about their new topic “Marvellous Me.” The children really enjoyed reading the topic book “The Ugly Duckling” and loved making swans, painting pictures, acting out the story and playing in our hospital along with so much more. They had super fun during P.E. with the soft play equipment and during Outdoor Play. Well done P2/3 - keep up the great work!
