Online applications for a Primary 1 place for September 2024 in Sacred Heart P.S. are now open from 12 noon today (Tuesday 9th January) via EA Connect.

Applications close at 12 noon on Friday 26th January, and it is important to note that applications are not considered on a first come, first served basis.

 Online Admissions September 2021

• The Education Authority will accept and process applications for Primary School places online for the September 2020 intake.

• Applications for admission to Primary One will open on Thursday 7th January 2021 at 10.00am and close for punctual applications on Friday 29th January 2020 (midnight).

• Please note that places are not allocated on a first come, first served basis and applications will only be considered after the closing date. Further information is available on the EA website under the Admissions section at www.eani.org.uk/parents/admissions for further assistance.

• Digital (online) will be the main option to be used. A paper application may be available from school where a parent cannot access the online system.

• If parents have difficulty with internet access. We will provide access to the online application portal in school upon request. Parents applying for a place in Sacred Heart PS are welcome to contact the principal to arrange this.
• Parents will be advised that birth certificates and any verifying documents specified in admission criteria should be submitted to their first preference school shortly after the closing date for applications.
• The EA is developing support materials for use with parents. These will include a range of materials to help parents apply online. It is planned to release these over the coming weeks.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Parents of prospective pupils are always invited to make an appointment with the Principal to receive a tour of the school, relevant school information and to have any individual concerns addressed. Pupil enrolment forms are available in the office from Mrs Milligan, School Secretary.

If the school is over subscribed the Board of Governors will use the following criteria to decide which pupils should be admitted to Sacred Heart PS.

1.    Children of compulsory school age who live in the Parish of Dundrum

2.    Children of compulsory school age from other areas.

In the event of over-subscription in any one of the above criteria, taken in order, the following sub-criteria will be applied in the order set down (a) to (c).

a)     Children who have brother(s)/sister(s), half-brother(s)/sister(s) presently enrolled in the school.

b)    Children whose parents/guardians, brother(s)/sister(s), half-brother(s)/sister(s) is a former pupil in the school.

c)    Other children

•    The Admission Criteria will be reviewed regularly.

•    Applications for admission to Primary One after the beginning of the school year will be subject to the same criteria.

•    Applications for admission to any other year will also follow the same criteria.
