Our annual club mass takes place this Saturday evening in the Sacred Heart chapel at 6.30pm. A club choir will be performing while club members young and old will be involved in the readings, prayers and offertory.
We would like to invite all those in attendance to the community centre after mass for tea and refreshments.
It would be great to see a good turnout of members for this occasion.
- Our 200 Club Draw tickets have been selling extremely well. We are now about to finalise the process of sales in the next week in anticipation of our first draw which will take place at the end of January. For details contact Paddy Curry on 07849780186.
- We are the only club in the county selling Down GAA Club Draw tickets for £60. The tickets cost £120 but we are doing an unbelievable half price offer!
Contact Eamon King on 07849335072 for details.
- The car boot sale in the parish is on the go around 20 years now and has provided substantial income primarily for both sides of the parish, Dundrum and Ballykinlar, as well as our club.
However, the future of the car boot sale now hangs in the balance due to the lack of volunteers currently involved in its operation.
The GAA club provides the vast majority of workers for the car boot. We need more people from the club to come forward and more importantly we need volunteers from both sides of the parish to get involved.
It is 3 hours work every fifth Sunday. It isn't a massive commitment but it is an important one.
Your club and parish needs you. Please contact co-ordinator Rab Smyth (07703580601) to join a team.
- As announced pre-Christmas we will be hosting Stars in Their Eyes 2 on St Patrick's Night in the hall.
This is our first major fundraiser of 2018. The organisation starts now and we once again have the brilliant Simon Walsh on board for the production of the event.
We are now on the hunt for singers and groups to participate. You can bring an Irish theme to proceedings. Do we have a Dana, a Niall Horan or a Bono in our midst!?
Our first show was an amazing success and this sequel is set to be even bigger!
- At County Convention before Christmas Seamus Walsh was re-elected as Central Council Delegate while Mark Fitzsimons was appointed as the new Children's Officer.
- Cormac Venney and Mark Fitzsimons represented the club at the National GAA Coaching Conference in Croke Park on Saturday.
- A sub committee is currently working towards appointing a senior men's team management for the forthcoming year. It is envisaged that an appointment will be made by the end of the month.
- Our senior ladies will begin their second season in adult football with a team meeting on Tuesday 30th January. Formal training will start on Thursday 1st February.
We are delighted to welcome a few new additions to the team this year and we also welcome an influx of U-16 girls into the panel.
- Over the past few months we have recruited no less than nine new coaches to our underage setup. We now have over 25 coaches: the most we have had in recent history.
Coaching Officer Cormac Venney is now in the process of organising a meeting for all coaches in which management teams will be selected for the year ahead.
- And we've two more county players!
Alice McAlea and Cliodhna Carey will be part of the Down Minor and U-16 teams respectively for 2018.

Our young Scór na nÓg competitors ventured to Slieve Dhu Nursing Home in Newcastle on Sunday afternoon to perform for the residents. This was a lovely gesture from our Scór team and the residents really enjoyed it.
Our Scór leader Seamus Garland would like to thank all those who participated in Scór na nÓg this year. He also sends his gratitude the way of the coaches; Claire Murnin, Christine Cummins, Toni O'Neill and Eva McAlea.
Another brilliant contribution by Dundrum GAC.
- After a fantastic performance that raised the roof of the packed hall in St Malachy's, Castlewellan, our Léiriú act unfortunately didn't make it through the Ulster semi final on Sunday.
Nevertheless they have an East Down title in their back pockets and they can be rightly proud of their tremendous campaign.
Well done!

Our juvenile awards on Friday night were a tremendous success. An incredible turnout of over 200 children, parents and family members along with club members attended the presentation in the parochial hall.A big thanks to Cormac Venney and his Coaching and Games Development Sub Committee who organised the night. Thanks goes to club photographer David Campbell. There was a lot of work that went in to it and it was appreciated by all. Food followed the presentation and a disco brought the night to a close.
Gratitude is also shown to our two special guests Darragh O'Hanlon and Chara Laverty. Both these Kilcoo club members are also part of their respective county squads and they were fantastic guests to have with us.The highlight of the night was the awarding of the Paddy Ward (RIP) Memorial Cup for the first time. This award was very kindly donated to the club by the Ward family. The cup was voted for by all the coaches in the club and was based on the effort, commitment, gamesmanship and attitude of their chosen player across the age groups from U-6 to U-16. The inaugural winner was Alice McAlea who was a truly deserving recipient. The cup was presented by Paddy's wife June. A fitting end to the night.
- On Saturday night our current committee member Gerry McMullan was honoured at the Bright GAC awards.
Gerry was corner forward on the 1967 Down MFC winning Bright team who defeated Clonduff in the final.
The 50th anniversary of this triumph was being celebrated.
- POSH are running another fundraising quiz for the Sacred Heart P.S on Friday night in the Dundrum Inn at 9pm. The event will kick off after the Christmas tree light switch on.
- The Sacred Heart P.S. Open Evening takes place on Tuesday 5th December from 4pm to 6pm. The Principal's Address takes place at 5pm.
This is a great opportunity for children of prospective pupils to get a look at the school.
As ever we strongly encourage all those within our club community to make the Sacred Heart P.S. the first choice for their child's education.

We are East Down Scór na nÓg Léiriú Champions 2017!
An incredible achievement for the club. You were all outstanding!
Our Céilí dancers, Instrumental, Ballad and Solo Singing acts were all brilliant but unfortunately didn't make it into the top two to get to the county final.
Your efforts are to be applauded.
Our hall was absolutely packed to the rafters for this final on Sunday night. We thank Seamus Garland and his Scór committee for their hard work in preparing our acts for this evening.
We thank all those who helped with the tea, refreshments and the tuck shop. Also to those who helped with the clean up after.
Irish culture is alive and kicking in Dundrum.
We wish our Léiriú team the very best for their county final on Sunday 26th November which will be held in St Malachy's H.S Castlewellan.
- Our juvenile awards will be held on Friday 24th November in the parochial hall. Our special guests will be Down and Kilcoo star Darragh O'Hanlon along with RGU and Down Senior Ladies player Orla Boyle.
The Games and Coaching Development Sub Committee are busily preparing for the event which is sure to be a great celebration of what has been another fine year in Dundrum's juvenile setup.
- 32 delegates attended our 2017 AGM on Sunday in the Community Centre. This was a healthy turnout and a very productive meeting took place. The AGM booklet is available on the club Dacebook page to view. Please take the time to read through it as it provides an informative overview of the past year in the club.

Dundrum GAC AGM 2017
A chara,
Our AGM will take place this Sunday at 2pm in the Community Centre. The AGM is an opportunity for all those in our club to come along and hear about all the activities that have taken place in Dundrum GAC over the past year. It is also where we elect our new committee for 2018.
In truth, Dundrum GAC has grown immeasurably in the past decade. Our membership has increased year on year since 2009. We now boast 14 teams across two codes as well as a thriving Scór section. With this comes more work and more responsibility. We really are now in a position that we desperately need more people involved in our Executive Committee and Sub Committees. The work is becoming too much for the few. To ensure that the club keeps progressing in the manner we aspire to then it really is up to you to come forward and see what you can do for our brilliant committees.
At the AGM on Sunday all positions bar the appointed positions namely Children's Officer, Designated Person and President will be up for the election process. We have also re-instated our Additional Committee Members option which means you can come on the Executive Committee without holding a formal role when nominated and seconded by another paid up member at the AGM.
One particular role that is of huge importance for us as a club is the Development Officer position. We need somebody to take this on who will work with the Executive Committee in developing a 5 Year Development Plan, work on our new Club Maith process and begin to familiarise the club with grant applications. There will be immense support from the committee and the County Development Officer for this role. It is really worth thinking about.
We also want to see past committee members and club members in attendance on Sunday as well. We need you on board. We need to draw on your experience and avail of the expertise that you afforded the club over your time in position.
Sunday's AGM is one of the most important in the recent history of this club. There needs to be a groundswell of support for it so that we can resource our Executive and Sub Committees with the personnel to enable us to work together to bring our club to the next level.
Looking forward to seeing you all there at 2pm.
Is misé,
Mark Fitzsimons (Secretary).

Down U-16 C Championship Semi Final Replay
Ballymartin 4-11 Dundrum 4-12
It may have taken over 120 minutes of football to separate these two teams but in the end it was Dundrum who got over the line after two truly epic encounters.
And Wednesday night's win came in the most dramatic of fashion.
Three minutes deep into injury time Dundrum won a free. Cliodhna Carey found Alice McAlea with a pass before the captain evaded four onrushing Ballymartin defenders to fire over the bar and send her team through to the final.
This was a pulsating game of football. Full of end to end action and it was the finest of margins that decided it.
Dundrum went in to an early 1-02 to no score lead against the wind.
Caoimhe Coughlan hit 1-01 with Alice McAlea drifting over a point.
Ballymartin replied with a goal as Alice McAlea proceeded to strike her first free of the night.
The Lilywhites soon got into their groove and reeled off three minors to level the game at 1-03 apiece.
Dundrum sparked into life again with their second goal via Chloe Trainor.
A brilliantly hit Cliodhna Carey free followed up by a nice score from Gemma McShane had the Duns back on track.
Ballymartin kept biting back and two more scores came their way.
Dundrum responded through Caoimhe Coughlan but 1-01 from the Lilywhites restored parity at 2-06 each.
Dundrum kept pushing on and the brilliance of Chloe Trainor sealed a third goal for the Reds.
A Caoimhe Coughlan point put four as the difference before a late retort from Ballymartin left the away team 3-07 to 2-07 clear at the short whistle.
Both defences tightened up in the second half and scores came harder to come by.
Cliodhna Carey and Chloe Trainor got Dundrum's account restarted but Ballymartin had the gap back to a goal shortly after.
Points were then exchanged as the game entered a period of midfield scraps with Carey and Boden battling gamely with Poland and McDowell.
With just over ten minutes to go Dundrum pushed on a level with the marauding Joanna Boden smashing home her side's fourth and final goal.
Minor points were swapped again and with seven minutes to go Dundrum looked to be in charge of a commanding 4-10 to 2-10 lead.
However, this Ballymartin team were made of sterner stuff as they pounced forward at every opportunity.
Their persistence reaped two goals in three minutes.
With only minutes left of normal time both outfits foraged for the winner.
After a few false dawns it was left to Alice McAlea to seal passage through to the decider as her point with the last kick of the game catapulted the Duns into the final.
A true team effort with outstanding displays across the pitch.
Massive credit goes to the Ballymartin players and management for their part in these two titanic battles. Great ambassadors for their club.
Dundrum: K.Campbell-Rice, S.Murray, E.Harty, C.Kidd, K.Cunningham, J.Cunningham, A.Ward, C.Carey (0-02, 1F), J.Boden (1-00), C.Coughlan (1-04), A.McAlea (0-04, 2F), M.Rice, G.McShane (0-01), C.Trainor (2-01), A.Kidd.

Down Ladies JFC Semi Final
Dundrum 1-11 Tullylish 4-10
Tullylish finished the stronger as they progressed to a JFC final meeting with St John's after this high octane encounter.
The South Down side's experience proved to the difference as they held their nerve in the closing stages after trailing for most of the game.
It was all Dundrum in the first half.
The Reds were dominant all over the pitch but at halftime they only led by one point.
12 wides came their way as they spurned some glorious opportunities.
Tullylish were second best in the opening thirty minutes but they still remained in touch with 1-04 to their credit.
Dundrum struck for 1-05 with Rachelle Connolly striking home a penalty and points coming from Carey, Coughlan, Fegan, Boden and McAlea.
Tullylish levelled after the restart but minors from McAlea and Coughlan had Dundrum back in charge by two.
A second Tullylish goal from Emma Drainey then put the 'Lish one up.
The brilliant Alice McAlea soon took charge of affairs as she smashed three points in a row to re-establish Dundrum's two point advantage.
With ten minutes remaining it looked as if Dundrum would push on to reach a historic final.
However, Tullylish had different ideas.
They began to out muscle the Duns around the middle from which they gained an attacking foothold.
In a devastating period they swooped for 1-05 to completely turn the tables on their opponents.
Dundrum were left shellshocked and all they could muster in response was a late free from Alice McAlea to make five points the difference.
It was too little, too late, though as Tullylish banged in a fourth goal in injury time to come back from the brink to take the spoils.

Down JFC Semi Final
FT - Dundrum 0-20 Mitchels 0-10
Dundrum and Mitchels renewed acquaintances yet again in what now seems as a near annual meeting in the JFC, such is the volume of times the two teams have met in the championship in the past few years....
In the end it was the Duns who prevailed as they finished the last quarter strongest to progress through to the semi finals.
Mitchels battled hard for the most part and their sweeper had a modicum of success in the first half.
But they ran out of steam as the second half progressed and in the end finished the game with 13 men due to two late indiscretions.
Dundrum hit an impressive 20 points and the fact that 11 different players got on the score sheet was testament to the array of scoring ability that they have in their ranks.
Mitchels managed ten points over the hour with eight of them coming from the dead ball.
Mickey Heaney was unerring with his free kicks and 45's.
Yet only two points came from open play with the aforementioned Heaney getting one of them and centre half forward Kevin Marks striking the other.
The margin of defeat for the Newry side could have been bigger had Dundrum not fluffed a couple of nailed on goal chances, one in each half.
All in all this was a decent game of football played on a pristine surface in Kilcoo.
A much tougher test awaits Dundrum in the last four.
Dundrum: M.Smith, P.Curry, R.McGuigan, S.McGeown, S.Willoughby (0-02), J.Hurley, (0-01), C.Doran, A.Doyle (0-02), A.Fegan (0-02), C.Rice (0-01), K.Walsh (0-03, 2F), Oi.McKibbin (0-02), K.Glavin (0-02), C.Venney (0-02), E.King (0-02).
Subs Used: T.McShane, M.McGrattan, M.Fitzsimons, M.Coughlan (0-01).
Squad: S.McShane, Od.McKibbin, M.McShane, P.King, P.Burns.
Club Notes
- Our senior ladies' remarkable maiden season in senior football came to an end on Saturday evening in Castlewellan. Despite dominating proceedings for most of the of the JFC semi final against Tullylish, the girls just faded in the last ten minutes as they lost out 4-10 to 1-11.
The team and management have been working hard since the squad was established in January. They were very grateful for the support that came along to the game.

Dundrum GAC Club Notes and Match Report
Down Ladies JFC Quarter Final
HT - Carryduff B 2-06 Dundrum 3-04
FT - Carryduff B 2-09 Dundrum 3-12
Dundrum's first ever game in adult championship football proved to be a memorable one as they dumped Carryduff B out of the reckoning.
Carryduff had defeated the Duns twice in the league but the Reds were primed for this challenge.
The away side got off to a fantastic start with Eimear Fegan prodding into the net after being set up by Claire McGuigan.
The Duff retorted with a point before Alice McAlea's speculative drive found its way past the Carryduff goalkeeper for Dundrum's second three pointer.
Carryduff began to work their way back into the game and they bagged 1-02 without reply to level the game.
Dundrum were foraging hard at this stage and a double of scores from Rachelle Connolly and a high lob from Niamh Davis had the Reds back in the lead.
Carryduff eased back into it and a couple of points came their way before they put away a penalty to take a two point lead.
Dundrum's reply was instant as Claire McGuigan smashed her side's third goal.
Points were exchanged just before the short whistle with Dundrum going in one up.
That one point lead should have been a lot more due to some wasted gilt edged scoring chances.
The second half saw the Duns put in a very robust and disciplined performance.
They got the first three points through Carey, Connolly and McAlea.
Carryduff responded with a brace.
However, the remainder of the game would see Dundrum outscore their hosts 0-05 to 0-01.
Carryduff also had a player sin binned in this period.
The Duns had Alice McAlea to thank for three of their scores with Connolly and Caoimhe Coughlan tagging on minors at the end to secure a merited six point success.
This was a great all round team performance with the whole squad of 21 players giving their all for the cause.
There were some fine individual performances but the sum of the whole was greater than its parts.
Dundrum: C.McCormick, M.Poland, A.Rodgers, E.Harty, C.Carey (0-01), AM.Scott, J.Boden, N.Davis (0-01), E.Boden, KA.McClelland, A.McAlea (1-04), C.McGuigan (1-00), C.Coughlan (0-01), R.Connolly (0-05, 4F), E.Fegan (1-00).

St Jude's All Ireland 7's Report
Dundrum - All Ireland Junior 7's Winners
The footballers of Dundrum made their sixth trip to St Jude's in Templeogue on Saturday for the All Ireland Junior Football 7's.
Having reached the quarter finals on three occasions and the semi finals twice, hopes were high for the panel of 12.
Kerry teams have dominated this competition in recent times. St John's were the only Down side to win it previously in 2009 with Ballykinlar managing runners up spot in 1996.
First up for Dundrum was the host club St Jude's. In a tight opener the Duns emerged victorious by three points, 2-04 to 1-04.
The second group game was against a very good Coa team from Fermanagh.
The Erne side had current county captain and International Rules star Eoin Donnelly at midfield.
In a high scoring affair it was the Reds who emerged victorious once again, 7-03 to 5-03.
The final game in the group stages was a clash with Fergal Byron's Courtwood outfit from Laois.
The Leinster side included senior team panellist Niall Donohoe in their ranks and he helped them to a 2-08 to 3-05 draw.

In an easier than expected game Dundrum won 4-05 to 1-02.
A tough and physically demanding quarter final saw the Reds oust Lawardane McHales from Mayo to set up a semi final with Sean McDermott's of Birmingham.
That obstacle was overcome with Dundrum persevering to a 2-08 to 1-06 success.
The final arrived in the late afternoon as the Duns came face to face with 2015 champions Brosna.
It was nip and tuck throughout with Dundrum emerging champions on a 2-08 to 0-12 scoreline. David McComiskey and Aidan Fegan getting the goals.
A fantastic day of football came to an end with the Duns on top of the pile.
The Loch an Lae award for the player of the tournament went to Oisin McKibbin. McKibbin's performances in the group stage and up to the quarter final were of the highest order. After a pulled hamstring Oisin unfortunately missed out on the semi final and final.

The team suffered their first defeat in the league on Friday night after going down 2-11 to 1-12 away to Ardglass.
Ryan Kelly's side led 2-08 to 1-05 at the break.
Dundrum dominated the second half and spurned at least seven goal chances with the Ardglass keeper and defence in terrific form.
The next league game is on Friday 2nd September at 7pm at home to St Michael's.
* The minors couldn't muster a team for their first championship game away to Teconnaught last week. Last night (Tuesday) they were at home to Kilclief with the final group game at home to Dromara next Tuesday.
* The U-14's didn't field against Bright in their second championship game on Monday of last week. They finished their campaign on Monday night away to Kilclief.

* The U-8's and U-10's will be attending the Kilclief blitz this Saturday. There is an earlier start time of 10am.
* There was a superb showing from our U-8's on Saturday at the Ballykinlar tournament.
4 wins, two apiece over Darragh Cross and St John's (Antrim) in the group stages sent us through to the Cup Final as group winners. Despite a trojan effort we just came up short by 3 points to the winners; Downpatrick RGU. Regardless of our final defeat this was a brilliant outing. Well done!
* Our five girls thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the Croke Park Activity Day last week. Thanks to all the parents and family members who accompanied the girls and to Down GAA for their organisation.
* Well done to Orlaith Forsythe who participated in the All Ireland Fleadh today in Ennis. She performed brilliantly on the guitar in the Accompaniment section.
* The senior team are planning on running a quiz in the Tonn Ruray on Friday 2nd September after the home game v St Michael's. All proceeds raised will go to the club with a charity donation thrown in as well.
