Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
P1 pupil Lochlan was awarded the Principal’s Award this week. Lochlan has settled really well into Sacred Heart P.S. He is a hard worker who puts in a lot of effort to his school work. As well as being a great friend to the P1 boys and girls, he shows respect for everyone in the school and this is to be admired.
Well done Lochlan!
Our third instalment of the Pupil of the Month awards took place today. Celebrating our children and all that they do is very important in Sacred Heart P.S. and so we were elated to acknowledge the following:
P1 - Zain
P2 - Charlotte
P3 - Hannah
P4 - Darragh
P5 - Ronan
P6 - Zara
P7 - Niall
Well done to you all!
Our P4 class created a 'Magical Nature Shop' as part of their outdoor learning project. The children gathered various types of natural resources such as leaves (elf wings), twigs (magic wands) and stones (magic beans). The children itemised each resource with a price list which they drew with chalk on the wall. The children then had an opportunity to take part in a role play shop session taking turns at being the customer and the shop keeper. Children had to work out the money needed for multiple items as well as providing customers with the correct change.
The Junior School at Knockevin also worked on the theme of money as part of their outdoor learning project. They went on a treasure hunt around the playground searching for various coins. After this they had to match the coins and put them in order starting from the largest £2 coin to the smallest 1p coin.
Both groups shared their experience through a Zoom lesson this afternoon with questions and answers at the end.
Not so long ago our Eco Council decided to write a letter to the world famous environmental advocate David Attenborough. Known for his ground breaking and award winning television documentaries, the Eco Council wanted to make him aware of all the great environmental work that they were doing for our school, the local community and beyond.
Much to everyone’s amazement, we received a letter in the post today from none other than Mr Attenborough himself! Our Eco Council Chairperson Niall (P7) is pictured with it.
His reply was as follows:
“Dear children of Sacred Heart Primary School,
Thank you very much for your letter. I am glad that you are learning all about the problems facing our planet and the things that you can do to help protect it. We all need to play our part in stopping climate change and plastic pollution, and the things that you are doing in school will certainly help. Thank you all for your hard work.
With best wishes,
David Attenborough. “
The Student Council would like to ensure that Sacred Heart P.S. keep in mind charitable causes and those less well off than ourselves this Christmas.
Therefore they have decided to organise a Non Uniform Day on Friday 3rd December. All proceeds will go to our local St Vincent de Paul branch. A minimum donation of £1 per child has been proposed.
Thank you.
