Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Our school text message system via Primary Site will cease as of Wednesday 27th March. We are moving our messaging services to 'The School App' platform. Thank you to everyone who has already downloaded the app. If you haven't already downloaded the app, please do so at your earliest convenience. Similarly, if you have had the app these past years, you may need to delete it and re-install it to get the latest up to date version.
Moving forward from Term 3, all school messages will be sent via 'The School App' and/or Seesaw.
Thank you.
Green Day in school will take place on Friday 15th March. Children are encouraged to come to school dressed in green to mark our annual St Patrick's Day celebrations. There will be a themed variety concert taking place in the school hall at 9:30am. All of the children in the school will be in attendance and like last year, we extend an invite to the parents and family members of our P1 class to come along and enjoy the production.
Please note that as per calendar, school will be closed on Monday 18th March.
Thank you.
Eimíle P1
Eimíle is a very deserving recipient of the Principal’s Award this week. Emilíe has impressed all of the staff here at Sacred Heart P.S. with her kind, caring and bubbly nature.
She has an infectious energy and always has a big smile on her face. Her kindness extends to being a great friend, she especially enjoys visits from our friends from Knockevin!
Eimíle’s reading fluency is coming on leaps and bounds and it is great to see the excellent progress that she is making in this regard.
Eimíle has enthusiastically embraced the Irish language and we are all so proud of what she achieved so far in P1.
Maith thú!
Our Big Battery Hunt has well and truly kicked off with lots of pupils from every class bringing in their used batteries and giving us the best shot at winning this competition.
A particular thanks goes to Charlie from P6 who has made a huge contribution by bringing in over 100 batteries so far!
Used batteries can be brought into the office to be put into our custom made container.

Mr Lundy’s class visited the St Patrick's Centre in Downpatrick on Wednesday morning. They were treated to a guided tour of the venue in which they learned all about the life of St Patrick. They also took part in a drama play as they acted out numerous different scenes of his life and engaged in some fantastic roleplay opportunities.
The mantra in Sacred Heart P.S. with our Accelerated Reader programme is ‘quality over quantity.’ The focus is on the quality of reading, implementing comprehension/inference strategies and attaining high scores in quizzes.
The people at AR have sent the school prizes to distribute for those pupils who are attaining high percentages in quiz accuracy. So a big well done goes to Orlaith (P2), Sophie (P3), Noomi (P5 - absent from photo), Ellie (P6) and Kasey (P7) who were all delighted to receive a few goodies today.
The school’s Gaeligeoir na Míosa for February is P4 pupil Kasia. Kasia has been very active in using Irish during everyday operations in school. She has also been using digital translating tools to good effect. So much so that she named one of our new chicks in P1 after using her Amazon Echo to translate!
Maith thú Kasia!
