Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Academic improvement, good behaviour, kindness and teamwork, perseverance and independence, participation and effort were just some of the features of today’s Pupil of the Week recipients.
Well done to Ella P1, Flynn P2, James P3, Caolán P4, Fionn P5, Rosie-Leigh P6 and Grace P7 on your recognition!
Coby P2
Coby is a wonderful boy who we all think the world of! His behaviour has been excellent, and Miss Byrne is so proud of the big improvements he has made in both Literacy and Numeracy.
Coby shows great independence by using classroom resources like ten frames to support his learning. He is also working hard on his speech with our therapist Rachel and making fantastic progress with it.
Coby demonstrates excellent gross motor skills and really enjoys PE, where his enthusiasm shines. He is showing great perseverance when tackling tasks and is making thoughtful, positive choices every day.
Coby is also a kind friend to others, and we are so proud of everything he has achieved this year. Keep up the amazing work Coby!
Today Miss Byrne and Mr McCartan teamed up to deliver a Forest School lesson with P1, P2 and P3! The children had so much fun exploring the forest, making observations, and recording their findings in creative ways.
It was wonderful to see collaboration across the year groups and everyone showing fantastic creative thinking and self-management skills as they worked.
Northern Ireland Forest School Association
At Sacred Heart P.S., we’re committed to building equity and giving every child the chance to shine. This year, we’re continuing to develop our interventions to help every learner succeed.
One of the tools we use is Toe by Toe, a highly structured, multisensory reading programme designed to give children who need a little extra support, the skills and confidence to become independent readers.
Today, all of our amazing classroom assistants took part in training with Bill from Toe by Toe. They are now fully equipped to continue to support our children and help them all make fantastic progress!
Fearne P1
Fearne has had a fantastic first week in Sacred Heart P.S. She has been so brave, coming into school each day with a big smile on her face. Fearne is a talented artist and has impressed everyone with her beautiful drawings. She is a kind and caring friend to others and always listens carefully to the adults in her class. Fearne especially enjoyed spending time at the beach with her P7 buddies on Thursday. Well done, Fearne – what a wonderful start to Primary One!
This recognition focuses on individuals, pairings, groups and classes that have done or achieved something through collaboration, shared purpose and mutual support for the good of each other, the class, the school and the community.
Noah P7 and Isla P7 have already proven that they are dedicated buddies to their Primary 1 counterpart, Barra. They worked together, showing kindness, empathy and maturity and ensured that lots of fun and learning was had in their first shared lesson. Noah and Isla have demonstrated huge enthusiasm for this role and have truly embraced it. They are fantastic role models!
