Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
There was a great energy in the air this morning as we held our first assembly of the new school year. Everyone was in a fine form as we looked ahead collectively to all what the 2025/2026 academic year is going to bring.
It was also an opportunity to recognise our first Pupil of the Week recipients. Oisin P1. Beth P2, Grace P3, Jessica P4, Niamh P5, Evie P6 and Charley P7 were all worthy winners with each of their teachers lauding their outstanding qualities and contributions over the last five days.
Well done to you all!
P1 had their first outing with their P7 buddies today down at the beach! The children had so much fun developing their fine motor skills and creativity by building sandcastles, practising writing their names in the sand with the help of their buddies and exploring the shoreline where they discovered lots of crabs – and even a jellyfish!
It was a fantastic day for both the P1/P2 and P6/P7 classes, not only building friendships but also developing their problem-solving and thinking skills as they explored and learned together.
A huge well done to our older pupils, who were so responsible, caring, and supportive throughout the day – brilliant role models for their younger buddies in our community of learning!
School starts back for all pupils this coming Monday (1st September). Children can arrive in the yard from 8:45am for a 9am start. Full school uniform for all. Breakfast Club is available from 8am and the new After School Club Programme will start as well. A reminder that P1's will be in to 12 noon up to and including Friday 19th September. They can avail of Breakfast Club everyday from this Monday and then the After School Club Programme from Monday 22nd September.
The new After School Club Programme can be viewed at the relevant section on the website. Please note that children will get the opportunity to do Table Tennis and Arts and Crafts on a rotational weekly basis. Bee Active starts on Tuesday 8th September and Kazuko Karate starts on Friday 19th September. In the interim these clubs will be covered by supervision until they start.
SchoolMoney is now fully functional and available for payments for Breakfast Club and After School Clubs. Dinners start on Monday too while P6 will be swimming for Term 1 (starting Thursday 4th September).
Just to note as well that P5/P6 teacher Miss Mack got married during the summer and she is now Mrs McCauley.
Also, yesterday the school got official notification from the ETI that we will be getting a full inspection on the 16th, 17th and 18th September. More information will be relayed to parents regarding this next week.
Our staff have been busy preparing for the return of our children plus welcoming our new P1's. We look forward to seeing you all bright and early on Monday morning!
Thank you - Mr Fitzsimons.
Young at Heart provides an excellent pathway to P1 in Sacred Heart P.S. and also prepares every child for starting school. Children should be at least three years old to be considered for a place in Young at Heart.
The information below relates to the structure of the Young at Heart Club (Pre Pre School and Pre School):
- The club runs from 12 noon to 2pm each day (Monday to Friday). The Young at Heart building is directly adjacent the community hall.
- The weekly cost for attendance is £15 a week. This is to be paid on the School Money portal. It must be stressed that even if your child on occasion does not attend for the full five days, the
£15 fee must be paid regardless.
- Children attending must be toilet trained (in the event of an accident please ensure your child is provided with a change of clothes and wipes).
- Children will bring a packed lunch and eat together from 12:45pm to 1:15pm. We operate a healthy eating policy in line with Department of Education recommendations. It is parental
responsibility to ensure that a healthy lunch is provided and that there is no item present that could be a choke hazard. Children should also bring a bottle of water. Any food containing nuts
will not be permitted.
- During each day children will participate in structured activities (Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, Art, PE and Drama). Our new outdoor play area and learning zone will also be utlised.
+++ Young at Heart will start back for the new academic year on Monday 1st September. To confirm your child's place, please contact the school office between 8am and 1pm this coming Thursday (28th August). +++
Thank you.
A huge well done and thank you goes to our school choir who for the third year running opened the Dundrum Village Festival with aplomb. They took the crowd through six fine songs, keeping everyone entertained with superb vocals and moves.
Massive gratitude goes to Mr Doyle for his leadership with this grouping along with Eva McAlea for her wonderful contribution.
Another great event!
We are excited to announce that our school choir will be opening the Dundrum Festival on Saturday 9th August at 11am. To prepare for this performance, we will be holding a series of choir practices, open to all current P5 to P7 pupils (2025/2026 academic year), including our recent P7 leavers.
There will be a practice this evening (Wednesday) from 5pm to 6pm in the school hall. Please use the side door entrance.
Remaining practices will be on Monday 4th August and Wednesday 6th August at the same time.
Let’s all get behind this venture and ensure brilliant representation from our school!
Thank you.
