After an absence of a number of years, the Service of Light for P7’s returned this evening. The ceremony, which is a precursor to Confirmation, was led by celebrant Canon Fleck. The boys and girls contributed via readings and the responsorial psalm whilst parents and sponsors were in attendance as well.
Thanks goes to class teacher Miss Crozier for leading the occasion and to Miss Annette Kelly for her beautiful musical accompaniment. Gratitude is extended as well to Mr Tom Boden for his contribution.
Ronan P7
Ronan is a well deserving recipient of the Principal’s Award. He has really applied himself within all subjects this year, making great progress.
Within Literacy, his presentation and handwriting has improved enormously, which adds to the quality of his writing. Ronan shows great skill and interest in Numeracy; tackling, solving and explaining problems with ease. There is no problem too big for Ronan to take on!
Ronan also has great character. He embraces all tasks with a positive attitude and is always ready to bring some light-hearted humour into the classroom in the form of a joke or two.
He is kind, well-mannered and is always looking out for those around him. There is no doubt that Ronan has matured and is a great role model for all.
Well done!
P2/P3 had a wonderful workshop with Aoife from REACH on Thursday. It was extremely engaging and beneficial for the class. They learned about how they can match their feelings to certain colours. Then they talked about what they should do when they feel a certain way. This was a really worthwhile experience for the class and it marked the first of four engagement sessions that will be taking place over the next few weeks.
REACH (Resilience Education Assisting Change to Happen) is a dedicated youth work programme which supports pupils, teachers and parents within schools across the North of Ireland to improve the emotional health and wellbeing outcomes for our children and young people.
Outdoor Learning Week was a big focus in Sacred Heart P.S. these past five days. To coincide with the initiative, we also reopened our new reimagined outdoor classroom.
Lots of related activities took place across all of our classes. Long division in the Spring sunshine, SeeSaw home tasks, Forest School activities, planting, establishment of fraction walls using sticks and chalk, Numeracy trails, shape hunts, trundle wheel measurements, branch length estimations and tree counting!

Delilah P6
This student’s journey this year has been marked by significant strides. Their concentration levels in class have soared to new heights, reflecting their determination to excel. Through diligent effort and perseverance, they have transformed their reading abilities, achieving great fluency. Moreover their spelling prowess has blossomed, evident in their written work where clarity and accuracy now shine through.
Furthermore, their Numeracy skills have gone through a remarkable improvement, with each day finding new found confidence. Her willingness to tackle challenges head on and her eagerness to learn have truly set her apart.
Delilah has achieved many accomplishments throughout P6. This has been fuelled by an energy in her learning that embodies her potential for growth.
Well done Delilah, a very deserving recipient!
The school will be leading Mass tomorrow evening (Saturday) in the Sacred Heart Church at 6:30pm. The school choir (P4, P5, P6 and P7) are asked to be seated for 6:25pm. It would be great to see our school community turn out to support the children.
Thank you.
