P7 took part in HIP Psychology’s online ‘Transitions’ workshop. The main themes explored for our leavers included building friendships, mapping the week, working the clock and exploring new scenarios.
The engaging and interactive 75 minute workshop equipped students with practical strategies to navigate the move to post primary with confidence.
Additionally, it addressed concerns and anxieties head on, fostering a positive mindset as our pupils embark on this new chapter.

Mr Fitzsimons recently attended the East Down Principals’ Conference and at it he struck lucky by winning the Playr-fit competition for a free set of school jerseys.
The new strip arrived today and our pupils are buzzing to get to wear it at all the upcoming GAA blitzes and tournaments.

Dundrum GAC
POSH will be holding a Colour Run tomorrow (Friday) at Dundrum GAC's pitch. It will take place at 1pm. This year, we have invited our friends from Knockevin to take part and they will be participating with us too. Young at Heart will be in attendance as well.
Children can come to school in their PE uniform. A white t-shirt will be required for the Colour Run. Accessories like funky sunglasses and goggles are most welcome too! It will be the usual 2pm finish on the day with After School Club GAA and Transfer Test still on from 2pm to 3pm.
Entry fees are as follows:
£5 for 1 child.
£10 for 2 children or more.
All fees can be paid for on SchoolMoney. Please do not send any cash into school.
This promises to be a great school fundraiser and an enjoyable event for all!
Thanks.
As part of their programme, Love for Life deliver holistic RSE to young people across the North. Yesterday they visited Sacred Heart P.S. to work with our P6 and P7 pupils.
P6 partook in ‘Choices and Changes.’ It was an introduction to the physical and emotional changes that children can expect as they go into their teens. It offered support as they explored and developed an understanding about the choices and changes in their lives.
P7 engaged with ‘What’s Inside?’ This was a comprehensive and interactive workshop, that prepared the class for both the physical and emotional adaptations of teenage life, exploring the changes associated with the transition to post-primary school, as well as recognising the importance of building healthy relationships.
We nearly have our first full academic year completed in terms of of our Accelerated Reader journey within school. A recent huge investment in new reading books has ensured that we have a wide and varied range of fiction and non fiction texts for our children to enjoy.
It is great to see the evolution of reading progress in so many pupils with Niamh P3, Noah P6, Eddie P6, Ava P6, Ellie P7 and Freya P7 all achieving their latest accreditation.
Well done!
Fionn P1
Congratulations to Fionn for being awarded the Principal's Award this week. Fionn consistently gives his best effort in everything that he does and this is reflected in his work.
Fionn and his family have made an outstanding contribution to the Big Battery Hunt and are so supportive of all school initiatives as well.
Fionn has made remarkable progress in P1 and it is wonderful to see how far he has come in all subjects. He shines not only academically but also as a wonderful friend to all of his classmates.
Fionn always has a smile on his face and demonstrates a great attitude towards learning. Fionn, you have become such a valued member of our school community!
Well done!
P1 headed to the beach today. In Numeracy, they have been learning about numbers to 20 and beyond. They collected sticks to represent tens and shells to represent ones. The children made number lines to 20 and showed them using the sticks and shells. Everyone had great fun exploring around the beach and were delighted to see the tractors out collecting mussels!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
