The whole school committed to engaging with the Art and Design Factory online art lessons as part of Children’s Mental Health Week. The feedback from the children was overwhelmingly positive with the finished pieces all looking spectacular. The completed paintings from each class are all now on display for everyone to enjoy.

As part of National Storytelling Week P7 got busy creating and animating a story using their Green Screens and Stop Motion. Their finished stories were enthralling!
P1 done a shared reading session with their friends in Knockevin whilst P2/P3 used Just2Easy to compile mini stories.
P5/P6 created short stories on robots that linked in with their class novel. They also worked on a story chain activity where the children were given a starter sentence about robots, then each child at the table added a sentence of their own to create a story. The results were fun, imaginative and full of surprise! Their creativity truly shone through.

The P4/P5 students had their first visit to Knockevin as part of the ASPIRE Programme, coinciding with Children's Mental Health Week.
The session was filled with fun activities, starting with ice breaker games to help everyone get to know each other. The children then got creative with a pancake decorating session, followed by a shared break and some playtime in the outdoor play park. After their break, they made Valentine's Day cards and wrapped up the morning with a lively dance session.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all involved!

Sacred Heart P.S. made the trip to Saintfield Leisure Centre for the second round of the East Down Primary Schools’ Soccer League this afternoon.
Pitted in a group with Carryduff P.S., Our Lady and St Pat’s P.S. Downpatrick, St Bernard’s P.S. Belfast and Knockbreda P.S., the team gave it their all in a strong showing throughout. This was a fine competitive outing for the 8 panellists (Declan Óg, Charlie, Ruadhán, Niamh, Ronan, Darragh, Jude and Seth) who all acquitted themselves superbly.
A huge thank you goes to parent Ruairi McGuigan for helping out and assisting with the trip. It was also great to bump into past pupil Conor McKibbin, proprietor of Brennan’s shop in Loughinisland, as the team celebrated their performances with very deserved ice creams!
P7 had a great time at the Trailblazer Cross Community event at Greenhill YMCA this morning. They engaged with a host of activities, including badge making and digital art, and were able to share their creative ideas for their films. The boys and girls were extremely thankful for the goody bags provided too! A great experience working alongside their friends from Newcastle P.S., Holy Cross P.S. Atticall and Kilbroney Integrated P.S. Rostrevor.
