As part of the Junior Entrepreneur Programme, P7 hosted their very own Dragon’s Den today and had the pleasure of welcoming Mr Redmond, Mr Fitzsimons and Mrs Flaherty to their classroom.
Over the past three weeks, the boys and girls have been working hard to create and develop their own unique business ideas. Today they presented these ideas to the ‘Dragons.’
Four fantastic and informative presentations were given, with products including phone cases, resin coasters, candles and a lucky dip. The standard of each presentation was so high that it made for a very tough deliberation. But a product was eventually chosen to move forward with and become ‘The Big Idea.’
P7 are delighted to announce that ‘Sacred Heart Scents’ will go into development soon!
Thank you to Mr. Redmond, Mrs. Flaherty and Mr. Fitzsimons for all their feedback and advice.
As part of the ASPIRE programme, P7 had their first meeting with Knockevin Senior School this morning. Today’s focus was on getting to know each other. They played lots of games, had a shared break and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
All the boys and girls are looking forward to continuing this partnership with lots more great opportunities to come!

P7 were shocked to return from swimming to find that their chairs were missing from their classroom. After some investigation, they realised that Betty had taken them as they weren’t being tucked in consistently every evening!
Luckily, the boys and girls have been focusing on persuasive writing as their creative writing topic. They wrote a letter to Betty detailing the importance of chairs and why they needed them back. Betty was so impressed by the quality of the writing that she agreed to give them another chance! The chairs were then returned in due course.
An integral facet of Catholic Schools’ Week is the celebration of Grandparents’ Day. This morning, Canon Fleck led a wonderful Mass in which our children and grandparents were fully participant. Our pupils engaged in an entrance procession, singing, prayers of the faithful and the offertory that all added to our contribution to the event.
Afterward we had everyone back up to the school for tea, coffee and refreshments. The boys and girls also got to present their grandparents with specially made bespoke cards to honour the occasion.

Sacred Heart P.S. are fully engaged with CSW 2025 and have a number of initiatives planned to mark the annual event.
Canon Fleck will be visiting our classes tomorrow (Tuesday) whilst on Wednesday we will be having a special Grandparents’ Day Mass at 9:30am in the chapel followed by tea, coffee and refreshments in the school hall afterwards. We will celebrate the Jubilee Day on Friday before finishing off the week with a Family Mass on Saturday evening in the Sacred Heart Church at 6:30pm.

Today we instituted the first instalment of our new Pupil Forum. This gathering will take place on a monthly basis with Mr Fitzsimons and will involve different children during each session. The aim is to really articulate the thoughts and feelings of our pupils here in school and to ensure that their voice and contributions are being listened to and acted upon.
There were three sessions this morning:
- Foundation Stage (P1 and P2).
- Key Stage 1 (P3 and P4).
- Key Stage 2 (P5, P6 and P7).
This proved to be a very worthwhile venture and we look forward to our second get together in February along with the establishment of more specific focus groups moving forward.
There is a renewed whole school focus on attendance this academic year and with that we have witnessed our highest average attendance rates from our pupils since the COVID era.
To acknowledge the importance of full attendance, this morning at assembly we recognised all those pupils who were full attendees during Term 1 (100% attendance). Each child got a brand new certificate along with a prize to solidify their achievement in not missing a day during this period.
Well done to you all!
