Stay tuned for more information on our JEP Showcase Day.
P2 have been learning about fractions this week in numeracy. Today they took their lesson outside and enjoyed drawing their own shapes around the playground and dividing them into halves and quarters.
As a treat for all of their hard work, the boys and girls were given a chocolate bar which they could eat if they could divide it into quarters.
The chocolate didn't last long with these mathematicians!
Sophia P7
Sophia is an incredibly well mannered and polite pupil. She is always the first to offer to help with jobs in class. She comes to school each morning with a smile on her face to greet every adult and friend.
Sophia has made great progress within numeracy this year and works independently in all lessons, showing a confidence within the subject. She is also making excellent strides within literacy. Sophia will strive to improve every sentence and her work within grammar and punctuation is of a high standard.
Sophia is extremely talented and has really impressed us this year with her beautiful solos during the Christmas play and most recently, Confirmation. She also encourages all of those around her to try new things.
Well done!
This afternoon the P7 boys and girls of Sacred Heart P.S. celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was a truly uplifting ceremony led by Canon Fleck.
Those receiving the Sacrament had instrumental roles during the service through the readings, prayers of the faithful and the singing of the Psalm. Well done goes to the pupils for their fantastic contribution to the event.
Thank you is reserved for their class teacher Miss Crozier for preparing and guiding the children. We also acknowledge the sterling contributions of our classroom assistants, Annette Kelly, Maria Hogg and Cora Peters. Gratitude is also directed to our school choir under the instruction of Mr Doyle along with Cora Kelly for the wonderful music and song.
Miss Crozier’s P6/P7 class went to Dundrum Castle to take part in a Forest School lesson today.
The boys and girls used the Hapa-Zome printing technique to create some beautiful prints using all natural materials.
Hapa-Zome is a Japanese term meaning 'leaf-dye.’ It formed part of an expressive arts session with learning in the areas of fabric absorbency and natural dyes.
This afternoon a representative from Trócaire visited Sacred Heart P.S. to receive a cheque for £900 from the school. The money was raised through a range of initiatives over the period of Lent, organised by our RE co-ordinator Miss McClean.
Thank you to our school community who gave so generously for such a worthwhile cause. Your support for this charity has really made a difference.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
