Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
There was a massive effort from both Sacred Heart P.S. teams this morning at the Down GAA Cumann na mBunscol 9-a-side qualifiers in Kilcoo GAC.
Special mention goes to our girls’ team who finished 2nd in their group. From that they progressed to play St Malachy’s P.S. Kilcoo in the playoff final, just going down by the narrowest of margins as Kilcoo qualified for the county finals.
Well done everyone!
An enjoyable afternoon was had with Sentinus today as their co-ordinator Jack led an excellent workshop based on toy creation.
All those in attendance thoroughly embraced the challenge with everyone given the task of making a car using an array of equipment.
Well done to all those who participated and to those parents who also joined in with the fun.
Today marked ‘Outdoor Classroom Day’ as the whole school took part in a den making competition. The focus was very much on utilising loose parts and making the most of our resources in and around the building to come up with creations. The beach and castle were venues as well.
There was a large element of collaboration across the school population for this task as some classes joined up, namely P1, P2, P6 and P7 who all worked fabulously well together.
Well done to everyone for their creativity and innovation!
What a performance from our school netball team who came away from today’s blitz with a 100% record, winning all seven of their games!
This was a tremendous show of skill from our girls who enjoyed matches against the hosts (Our Lady’s and St Patrick’s P.S, Downpatrick), St Patrick’s P.S. Legamaddy and St Nicholas P.S. Ardglass.
Thank you to Miss Sweeney from the host school for her invite and organisation of the event.
Awhile back, our P4 pupil Cahal entered Messy Play’s design competition. The objective was for each child to create a ‘colourful, creative, challenging and crazy idea!’ Cahal did just that with his wonderful invention. Out of 1000’s of entries, Cahal’s was chosen as the winner.
Today, dreams were turned into reality when Cahal’s vision finally arrived to school. It will be located in the playground so that everyone can gain maximum enjoyment out of it. Cahal is rightly proud of his creation.
Well done!
27 boys and girls from Sacred Heart P.S went to St Joseph’s P.S. Carnacaville this morning for challenge matches against the host school.
The girls were in superb form, winning both their contests whilst the boys, with a lot of P5’s getting match experience, enjoyed their football.
Next up is the county Cumann na mBunscol 9-a-side competitions on Friday at Kilcoo GAC.
Thank you to Mr McGahon and Mr Mussen from St Joseph’s for organising and hosting the games.
We were delighted today to take delivery of our new reading den. The den will now be very much integrated into school life as an area that will be utilised to facilitate and inspire reading amongst our children.
We look forward to tomorrow when our first classes will get the opportunity to use the den and begin a new learning journey.
Mr McCartan’s P3 class created cone crafts to showcase their favourite jungle animal. They used textiles and decorated them with paint and pieces of card.
The children thoroughly enjoyed being creative and it really showed their artistic skills during this project.
This wraps up the P3 topic of ‘The Jungle’ and they now look forward to starting their new topic which is ‘Fairy Tales.’
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
