Delilah P6
This student’s journey this year has been marked by significant strides. Their concentration levels in class have soared to new heights, reflecting their determination to excel. Through diligent effort and perseverance, they have transformed their reading abilities, achieving great fluency. Moreover their spelling prowess has blossomed, evident in their written work where clarity and accuracy now shine through.
Furthermore, their Numeracy skills have gone through a remarkable improvement, with each day finding new found confidence. Her willingness to tackle challenges head on and her eagerness to learn have truly set her apart.
Delilah has achieved many accomplishments throughout P6. This has been fuelled by an energy in her learning that embodies her potential for growth.
Well done Delilah, a very deserving recipient!
The school will be leading Mass tomorrow evening (Saturday) in the Sacred Heart Church at 6:30pm. The school choir (P4, P5, P6 and P7) are asked to be seated for 6:25pm. It would be great to see our school community turn out to support the children.
Thank you.
This morning we welcomed Mrs Patricia McClean from the Livestock and Meat Commission into Sacred Heart P.S. Patricia is doing three cookery sessions with us and this first one saw the P5’s get a hands on experience with the rustling up of a delicious chilli beef pasta dish.
The demonstration focussed on culinary skills, healthy eating and wellbeing and the P5’s were delighted to get to eat their finished product!
We will be joining in with other schools across the county as we celebrate 'Red and Black Day' on Friday 26th April in anticipation of the Down senior footballers' Ulster SFC semi final clash with Armagh in Clones on Saturday 27th April. Children can come to school on this day in their Down GAA gear or any item of clothing that contains red and/or black. Up Down!
This morning, members of our school fundraising arm (POSH), came in to present our P7’s with their new leavers’ jumpers. We place on record our sincere thanks to POSH for covering the cost of the garments and we hope that our P7 boys and girls get to enjoy wearing them for the rest of their time in Sacred Heart P.S.!
P7 travelled today to Ulster University, Jordanstown, to take part in the NBA Festival of Fun event held by Basketball NI.
We were one of 30 schools from all over the North who had the opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills and play lots of basketball.
The boys and girls were thrilled to learn that they would be representing the Los Angeles Lakers and were proud to wear the jersey that they were also able to take home!
A huge thank you to Michael McCabe for facilitating this fantastic experience and the previous coaching sessions. He ensured that the boys and girls were ready to compete and make the most of their day.
*** Reimagined Outdoor Classroom ***
This morning our Eco School co-ordinator Miss Crozier alongside our Eco Council members officially opened our reimagined outdoor classrooom. This came at the most opportune time as we are currently engaged with Outdoor Learning Week across the school.
A huge thank you goes to a friend of Sacred Heart P.S. Mr John Fitzsimons, for his sterling work with the project. Gratitude is extended as well to our current parents, Mr John Tumelty and Mr Andrew Doyle, for their extensive contributions too.
This space is wonderful area for learning and we look forward to getting our classes out to it for lessons during Term 3 and beyond.
