Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We were delighted to welcome Tula back to school today for the start of our weekly sessions. Tula is a reading therapy dog. Reading to dogs has been proven to help children develop literacy skills and build confidence, through both the calming effect the presence of the dogs has on them and due to the fact that the dog will listen to the children read without being judgemental or critical.
Our first full week back in Sacred Heart P.S. was brought to an end today with some delightful sunshine. We also had seven fantastic boys and girls shine brightly namely Eimear P1, Grace P2, Darragh P3, Penelope P4, Daniel P5, Charley P6 and Noah P7 who were all awarded Pupil of the Week certifications.
Pádraig P7
Pádraig has had a fantastic start to P7, with his kind nature really shining through. Already, he has proven himself to be a caring buddy to all the P1's, helping them if they need anything and looking out for them on the playground.
Pádraig has also started the year with a great work ethic. He loves a Numeracy challenge, and approaches these with determination and dedication. He has also displayed a positive attitude in writing, taking care and showing pride in his handwriting. Padraig’s effort and focus within Literacy has to be commended.
Well done on a great start to the year Pádraig!
Mr McCartan’s class have begun learning about Minibeasts as it is their World Around Us topic. Today they went on a fun habitat trek to explore where the minibeasts around us live. They used a detailed guide to help them find where each minibeast resided. Each group also had a magnifying glass to get a closer look at their discoveries!
The class had lots of fun exploring the nature around the school and they enjoyed seeing some minibeasts on the way!
