Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
As part of our Big Battery Hunt 2024 initiative, we are currently in receipt of over 14,000 batteries. Circa 9,000 of them have been sourced by P1 pupil Fionn. Fionn’s achievements were relayed to the organisers Duracell and they selected his achievement as a standout, earning him a brand new 10th Generation IPad for his endeavours.
Well done Fionn!

We were delighted to learn during the week that we have secured our Eco Schools’ Green Flag renewal for another two years. This attainment is the result of unstinting work from our Eco School co-ordinator Miss Crozier who along with our Eco Council have been to the fore in the continuation of our Green Flag status.

The Student Council talked and the powers that be listened!
Last month at their round table meeting, the Student Council proposed the idea of the school investing in new playground equipment that could be used at break and lunch times. The existing equipment was becoming out of date and the boys and girls believed that it was time for a change.
Through convenor Mr McCartan, the approach was made to Mr Fitzsimons and the order was processed. The school are now in possession of a wide range of play equipment that will make break and lunch times all the more fun!
P1 have been exploring all things aquatic with their latest World Around Us topic: ‘Under the Sea.’ On Wednesday, the Mourne Seafood Bar welcomed us to their establishment as the boys and girls got to explore a wide range of marine life. The visit was finished off with a beautiful lunch provided by the restaurant. Thank you Wayne, Chris and co for another wonderful experience!

P7 took part in HIP Psychology’s online ‘Transitions’ workshop. The main themes explored for our leavers included building friendships, mapping the week, working the clock and exploring new scenarios.
The engaging and interactive 75 minute workshop equipped students with practical strategies to navigate the move to post primary with confidence.
Additionally, it addressed concerns and anxieties head on, fostering a positive mindset as our pupils embark on this new chapter.

Mr Fitzsimons recently attended the East Down Principals’ Conference and at it he struck lucky by winning the Playr-fit competition for a free set of school jerseys.
The new strip arrived today and our pupils are buzzing to get to wear it at all the upcoming GAA blitzes and tournaments.

As part of their programme, Love for Life deliver holistic RSE to young people across the North. Yesterday they visited Sacred Heart P.S. to work with our P6 and P7 pupils.
P6 partook in ‘Choices and Changes.’ It was an introduction to the physical and emotional changes that children can expect as they go into their teens. It offered support as they explored and developed an understanding about the choices and changes in their lives.
P7 engaged with ‘What’s Inside?’ This was a comprehensive and interactive workshop, that prepared the class for both the physical and emotional adaptations of teenage life, exploring the changes associated with the transition to post-primary school, as well as recognising the importance of building healthy relationships.
