In Term 1.2, Mr McCartan’s P3 class took on the topic of ‘Castles’ for their World Around Us focus.
As part of this topic, the children were given a big task to do at home. This project involved creating their own castle with as many features as they could possibly include.
The final versions turned out brilliantly. Well done P3 with your fantastic efforts!
2023 marks a huge milestone in the history of education within Dundrum as it is the 50th anniversary of the opening of our school on its present site.
Throughout the incoming year a number of events will be taking place to acknowledge this landmark. As part of the arrangements, a 50th Anniversary Sub Committee is being formed to help with planning and organising the various initiatives. It is hoped that this grouping will be finalised by the end of January.
If any current or past pupils/parents/family members/staff members would like to get involved on the 50th Anniversary Sub Committee then please contact Mr Fitzsimons via the school or by email (mfitzsimons956@c2kni.net).
Thank you.
We hope that all of our pupils and families had a peaceful and enjoyable break over Christmas and the New Year.
Term 2 starts tomorrow (Thursday) in Sacred Heart P.S. There will be Breakfast Club available tomorrow and Friday from 8am to 8:45am. Our new After School Club Programme will not start until Monday 9th January. Details of this will be published tomorrow.
Remember that it is school PE uniform for all children tomorrow too.
See you all in the morning!
As previously notified, our school choir (P4 to P7) will be singing at Christmas Eve Mass in the Sacred Heart Church tomorrow evening.
We would ask that all children be present in the chapel for 6pm to enable organisation and the performance of welcoming carols. Mass will begin at 6:30pm.
Thank you.
A staggering £2089 was raised through our POSH Christmas Prize Draw. This is an amazing amount that will benefit our children directly through investment in their educational opportunities.
Thank you to POSH for their organisation of the draw. Thanks as well goes to those who sponsored prizes. This is hugely appreciated by all of our school community!
Well done to all of the winners (listed below)!
The school were delighted to have our new Activity Pod installed yesterday. The Pod will be fully operational for our return in January. To start the Pod will be used for:
- Display of full HD colour videos of school life and activities with sound enabling Sacred Heart P.S. to showcase what is going on in our school in a sleek modern format.
- Instant messaging feature that enables us as a school to instantly update pupils and parents with urgent messages and time critical information.
- Touchscreen capabilities that means the system can used as a platform to encourage interactivity amongst pupils, parents and staff.
The pupil section includes:
- Interactive content including games, mindfulness exercises, yoga programmes and dance videos alongside healthy eating content. This will provide fun and engaging activities for break and lunch times.
The school section includes:
- Communication of key information to parents and children. School website included along with information displays relating to term dates, uniform requirements and lunch menus plus much more.
The parent section includes:
- Valuable lines of open communication and parental discussions. Live and up to date information with developments in regards to After School Club information, POSH updates and class progress etc.
We look forward to bringing a whole new interactive experience to Sacred Heart P.S.!
