This morning every child in the school received an Easter Egg in recognition of their wonderful achievements over the course of Term 2!
We are also grateful to the Dundrum Village Association (DVA) for their donation of Crème Eggs for every pupil. The school entered their Easter art competition and the eggs were provided as recognition for this.
School finishes for the Easter break tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11:30am. Breakfast Club will be available however there will be no After School Club provision. Tomorrow will also be non-uniform for all pupils.
Thank you.
Well done to our school netball team who once again performed brilliantly at the blitz held in St Nicholas P.S. Ardglass!
Sacred Heart P.S. fielded two teams and enjoyed a number of games against the hosts, St Mary’s P.S. Newcastle and St Colmcille’s P.S. Downpatrick.
Led by Miss Crozier and our classroom assistant Cora Peters, the school netballers have been training and practising hard for these events. All that productive work on the court is starting to pay off as the whole panel were superb in their efforts today.
Thank you to Mr Kevin Burns of St Nicholas P.S. for the invite and for hosting.
Mr Doyle’s P4 class made the trip to the Kingdom of Mourne today to visit the Neary Nógs venue as part of their World Around Us topic, ‘Chocolate.’
They learnt about the chocolate making process from the pod in its country of origin such as Togo, to name a few, to our shop shelves. The children found out about how Neary Nógs pay above market value for cacao beans, to ensure that the cacao farmers get a living wage, ensuring survival of the cacao industry and the farmers’ livelihoods.
The children had a chance to taste the difference between 100% chocolate, 70% chocolate, delicious fudge and hot chocolate. They had a very informative and enjoyable day as trainee chocolatiers!
Today the P3 class went on a fantastic trip to Belfast Zoo. This was a great learning experience for the class as their topic in World Around Us is currently ‘The Jungle.’
They saw a wide range of animals such as lions, monkeys, chimpanzees, giraffes, elephants, sea lions, penguins and bears.
The P3 class were completely amazed with all the cool things Belfast Zoo had to offer. They also visited the ‘Zoovenir’ shop on their way out and bought some items so they’d always remember their brilliant time at the zoo!
We said goodbye today to our student teacher Miss Moore. Miss Moore has been with us these past two months as part of her placement from St Mary’s University College, Belfast.
With Miss Moore’s time with us finishing today, the P2 class, who she had been teaching, presented her with a going away gift and flowers as mark of their appreciation.
Thank you Miss Moore and don’t be a stranger!

She produces fantastic pieces of work right across the curriculum day in and day out, and she always ensures her work is neat and presentable.
Eilish is a very enthusiastic learner and can retain information excellently. Eilish loves to use mathematical strategies like partitioning to help solve tricky maths problems and loves learning new things. She thrives in a working environment and loves a challenge. Eilish always tries her best and is always willing to help others. Eilish is a very avid reader and uses excellent vocabulary throughout Literacy work.
She is a fantastic role model for Sacred Heart PS and is a very worthy recipient of this award.
Well done!
