Every class in school was called into action today by our Eco Council to partake in the Big Spring Clean! This undertaking saw our pupils go to different areas of the village to complete litter picks. It was a brilliant effort by all involved and the children deserve great credit for their endeavours.

The shortest month of the year has just passed and it was time at assembly this morning to recognise our Pupil of the Month recipients. Isabella P1, Laetare P2, Liam P3, Róise P4, Eilish P5, Noah P6 and April P7 were picked out by their respective teachers for all the wonderful things that they accomplished over these last four weeks. A tremendous effort by all and we are very proud of your fantastic application and energy.
Well done everyone!
This year’s whole school focus in Numeracy is centred on Mental Maths strategies. It was no surprise then that February’s Mathlete award winners were all lauded for their usage and implementation of the relevant strategies within their work. With so many of these techniques now embedded in learning, it was fantastic to see our winners celebrated for their progression.
Well done to Kohan P1, Theo P2, Jessica P3, Korey P4, Rosie-Leigh P5, Eoin P5, Raymie P6 and Elliot P7!
James P2
James is an extremely pleasant pupil who always has a smile on his face. He is highly sociable and is a very strong presence within the school community. He is well-mannered and polite, loves school life and is always determined to give everything 100%.
James is a very sporty individual who loves to compete within PE lessons. He is also a hard worker and this shows throughout his Numeracy and Literacy work. On a continual basis he is enthusiastic throughout lessons and is enthused to take part in classroom games.
James has really impressed Mr McCartan with his knowledge of place value within 2-digit numbers. James has also shown great commitment to reading and this has been shown by his solid participation within Accelerated Reader. These are two areas of learning that he is particularly adept in.
James you are a very worthy recipient of this award. Keep up the hard work!
Padding is one of the top exponents in school in terms of his proficient use of the Irish language. He has immersed himself in the Scoil Spreagtha scheme whilst he is diligently preparing for his Cúpla Focal oral examination in a few weeks time.
Maith sibh a Padraig as bhur n-iarrachtaí iontacha!

Our new baby chicks have finally hatched and everyone in school has been incredibly excited at their arrival. The P1’s have cared greatly for them up to this point, ensuring that conditions within the incubator were conducive to healthy births. The chicks are now in their brooder box and they have welcomed numerous visitors none more so than Young at Heart who enjoyed seeing them today.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
