Competitiveness levels were high this past week as all the classes in school competed in the Silver Coin Challenge. At the final weigh in today it was Mr Doyle’s P4/P5 class who emerged victorious, just narrowly pipping Miss Mack’s P5/P6 class. The winners will get to enjoy a well deserved reward on Tuesday for their efforts.
The funds raised from this initiative will all go towards our final total for Trócaire that will be announced on Wednesday as we break for the Easter holidays.
Trocaire
As part of their 'Prehistoric World' WAU topic, P4/P5 had an incredible visit to the Down County Museum. The children were thrilled to explore fascinating artefacts from the Stone Age, Iron Age and Bronze Age, gaining a hands-on understanding of these ancient periods.
In addition to their prehistoric discoveries, they delved into the rich local history of the museum itself, which was once a gaol. The children learned about the harsh conditions prisoners faced and how they were treated back then.
It was a day full of learning and curiosity, bringing history to life in the most engaging way!

Amelia P3
Amelia has worked exceptionally hard so far in P3 and has made great progress. She is very polite, well-mannered and studious.
Amelia has shown strong attainment in her reading, especially in her expression and fluency. The use of Accelerated Reader has been a great initiative for her and she is striving with it.
Amelia shows a fantastic ability to work independently in Literacy especially within writing lessons. She has a fine phonological awareness and can self-check her work for mistakes.
Amelia participates well in class and will always try her best within tasks. She is growing in confidence in Numeracy and has done extremely well with the class number topic of finding halves, quarters and thirds.
Amelia loves playing with her friends and exhibits a great caring attitude towards others. She has impressed Mr McCartan with her handwriting and takes great pride in this. Amelia thoroughly deserves this recognition!
Well done!
Andy Goldsworthy is an English environmentalist who produces site specific land art situated in natural settings.
Today, P1 and P2/P3 travelled to the bay edge to partake in some beach art inspired by Goldsworthy himself. The children used seaweed and stones to create an impression of an octopus.
This was a great opportunity to maximise the use of our local area and also for the younger pupils to work together on a mini art project.

P7 had a great time with their Knockevin friends today. They started their day off with lots of arts and crafts. They created cards, mini nests and an Easter bag. They shared a lovely break in the sun and then finished their visit with an Easter hunt! Another wonderful ASPIRE experience.
