P3 pupil Ruadhán is currently running a mile a day in April to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Today his classmates joined him at the GAA pitch to help him complete his 29th mile of the month for what is an extremely worthy charitable cause.
Well done to all the boys and girls for showing great teamwork and support for Ruadhán. Thank you is extended to Ruadhán’s mum Claire who also provided treats and refreshments after the exertions.
Ruadhán’s cause can be donated to via the following link: Charity donation link.
All the pupils and staff of Sacred Heart P.S. took part in the 10th anniversary walk for the Daily Mile. Dundrum village came alive to the stomping feet of our collective as the lanes, roads and streets of our area all got a pounding by the eager walkers.
Everyone converged on Murray’s Green for some refreshments in the form of ice lollies and a much needed relaxing rest after the walk. Well done to you all for your enthusiasm and full participation!

After the huge success of our Bake Sale on Friday past, we are delighted to announce that we have raised a staggering £573.28 for Trócaire as part of our Lenten appeal.
Thank you goes to everyone in our school community who backed this event. We are delighted to be able to donate such a sizeable amount to a very worthy charitable organisation.
The school were delighted to present every child an Easter Egg as an acknowledgement of all the great effort and work that has been going on within our classes. Don’t open them until Easter Sunday though!
Please note:
School finishes tomorrow (Wednesday) for our Easter holidays at 11:30am. Breakfast Club will run as normal but there are no After School Clubs taking place. Children can attend in non uniform. We reopen for Term 3 on Monday 25th April.
P1 to P3 took off to the Sheepsbridge complex just outside Newry this morning for a fun packed adventure in Cheeky Monkeys!
Everyone had a blast in the climbing area, ball pools and mazes. The smiling faces on arrival back to school sealed the mark of approval from the boys and girls.
What a great day out!
On Monday there were three very special visitors to Sacred Heart P.S. A trio of new born spring lambs were brought into school by our classroom assistant Kathleen Milligan from her home farm.
All the classes got to engage with the animals and some of the children proved to be dab hands at feeding them! This was a great seasonal experience for everyone and we thank Kathleen for facilitating it.
For the first time in quite a number of years, the school will be entering the Down GAA Cumann na mBunscol competitions.
Sacred Heart P.S. were traditionally entered into the 7-a-side competition, having won the county title at this level as far back as 1995. However, due to growing numbers in the school, we have now been categorised into the 9-a-side section.
We will be entering both boy and girl teams into the tournaments this year and we have drawn St Malachy’s P.S. Kilcoo in both these competitions. The games will take place in Kilcoo GAC at the beginning of May.
Good luck to all of our participating teams!
