Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
As a school with a strong focus on ICT, we were enthused to take part in National Coding Week.
Our Foundation Stage classes were engaged with programming BeeBots, whilst KS1 were busy operating as programmers with the Sphero Balls.
P3 to P7 also took part in the online Nerve Centre workshops that were hosted on Wednesday and Thursday. Scratch Jnr was the coding app utilised here as the boys and girls thoroughly enjoyed the interactive nature of the tasks and challenges.

Ryan - P3
The Principal’s Award this week goes to P3 student Ryan. Ryan has been working exceptionally hard so far in class and has made huge improvements in his handwriting during sentence writing.
Ryan shows excellent manners every day and always puts his hand up to ask a question.
Ryan loves participating in class and shows excellent skills during PE. PE is one of Ryan’s favourite subjects and he really enjoys all the different games we’ve been playing.
Ryan is a great friend to everyone and is always ready for work.
He also enjoys numeracy and has lots of fun during some of the starter games we have been playing before we begin classwork.
He has made a fantastic start to P3!
Each teacher on a weekly basis provides their reasoning for selecting a specific child for this award. It was very interesting today to listen to the different talents, skills and positive attributes that our students possess.
Well done to our Pupil of the Week winners namely:
P1: Kiannah-Mae, P2: Niamh, P3: Scarlett, P4: Aoibhe, P5: Darragh, P6: Beth and P7: Gerard.
Tomorrow (Saturday) is a very important day in the history of Dundrum GAC as the club recognises two deceased members who made an 'outstanding contribution to the club in their lifetime' namely Paddy Cunningham Snr. and Aloysius Rooney.
There will be a parade of all club members (juvenile, senior and families) which will be setting off from the entrance of Church Avenue, led by the St Joseph's Pipe Band, Longstone, at 1:30pm. All those in attendance are encouraged to wear club gear and club colours.
The memorial plaque unveiling will take place at 2pm at the clubhouse with exhibition football matches for all juvenile boys and girls along with tea, coffee and refreshments to follow.
Come out and support the club in what is set to be a great day!
The hustle and bustle of school life is well and truly back in Sacred Heart P.S. as we completed our second full week of term since our return.
At assembly this afternoon we acknowledged our Pupil of the Week winners who were all very deserving of their personal accolades.
Well done to Liam (P1), Lochlan (P2), Eoin (P3), Cahal (P4), Meabh (P5), Caleb (P6) and Sofia (P7)!
Lorcan - P2
Lorcan is an extremely caring member of the P2 classroom. He looks out for his classmates both inside and outside and is a great friend to all. He has carried out his class job with wonderful maturity this week. Lorcan always uses beautiful manners and encourages his friends to do the same. You are a young gentleman Lorcan, thank you for being a kind friend with everyone in your class.
32 years ago today Roald Dahl died. Every year schools now mark this anniversary with what has become known as ‘Roald Dahl Day.’
To acknowledge this special annual occasion, three internal initiatives were held. Foundation Stage undertook a colouring competition, Key Stage 1 designed a book cover for their favourite Roald Dahl book whilst Key Stage 2 composed book reviews of their favourite book from Dahl.
Some fantastic activities took place throughout the school. Special mention goes to Miss McClean’s P2 class who created a chocolate factory inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There were some wonderful creations like snowflake chocolate, chilli chocolate and lemon chocolate on a stick. During numeracy, the boys and girls were intrigued with the BFG and his huge feet. So much so that they went outside and measured themselves using their own footprint!
A very enjoyable day was had by all of the classes, learning about one of the greatest authors of all time.
