  Rosie has had an excellent first week in P1. She has shown a superb attitude to learning and is always keen to help others in the class. Rosie is a great listener and is growing in confidence every day.

• Young at Heart Return

  It was the first week back for Young at Heart and what a great time they all had. There were lots of activities and play that were enjoyed by everyone. The boys and girls thoroughly enjoyed their time!

• Autumn Walk - P1

  Today P1 headed out on an autumn walk. They found leaves of every colour, shape and size and worked together as mathematicians to sort them by different criteria.

  

• New Nest Boxes

  As part of our drive to ensure that we as school can operate within a ecological setting, four new nest boxes were installed on our grounds today.

  Three are for bluetits whilst one is for robins. All are positioned at least two metres above ground with the openings facing north west from the prevailing winds.

  We thank a friend of the school, Mr Richard Byrne, for constructing the boxes. A contribution will be made to his linked charity, the Rotary Club.

  Our eagle eyed ornithologists will be keeping lookout when we approach the spring for any new visitors to the school grounds!

  

• P1 - Day 2

  Having settled into their new surroundings yesterday, our P1’s eagerly arrived in school this morning for their second day at Sacred Heart P.S. The highlight was exploring our outdoor play area where they had great fun!

  

• First Assembly of the School Year

  The whole school came together this morning for our first assembly of the 2022/23 school year. With our school population growing annually, it was standing room only in the hall, as the boys and girls enjoyed their first collective gathering of the new academic year. It also provided an opportunity to introduce our new P1’s to the rest of the school.

  

• Brennan’s Ice Cream

  In what has now become an annual tradition, the Brennan’s ice cream van made a visit to our school this morning at break time. All the children and staff enjoyed some delicious treats, served by our past pupil Cora. A great way to bring in the new school year!

  

• P1’s First Day

  The sun shone brightly this morning as the first day of school came around for our 14 new P1 pupils. The boys and girls were full of enthusiasm as they made their way to Miss Byrne’s class with the new cohort embracing their new surroundings. Everyone had a great morning and we are looking forward to doing it all over again tomorrow!

  

• Welcome back to school!

  Tomorrow (Thursday) will see the boys and girls of Sacred Heart P.S. start/return to school for the 2022/23 academic year. The staff can't wait to welcome you all, especially our new P1's!

  Just a few information points:

  - Full school uniform is to be worn by everyone.

  - Breakfast Club will be available from 8am to 8:45am. £1.50 payable on SchoolMoney.

  - Children can arrive to school between 8:45am and 9am where they will be supervised in the playground by staff. Line up at 9am with our new P1's being escorted to their classrooms by parents/carers and staff.

  - There will be no After School Club provision tomorrow (Thursday) or Friday. P1's finish each day at 12 noon, P2 and P3 finish at 2pm with P4, P5, P6 and P7 finishing at 3pm.

  Early to bed tonight for everyone and we will see you all in the morning!

• Back to School

  Our boys and girls still have over a fortnight of their summer holidays left but please see below a few notes regarding the start of the new academic year:

   

  - All children (P1 to P7) will return to school on Thursday 1st September. 

   

  - Breakfast Club will start on Thursday 1st September as well.

   

  - Our After School Club Programme for Term 1.1 will begin on Monday 5th September.

   

  - Young at Heart will start back on Monday 5th September. 

   

  - The school office will be operational from 8am to 1pm on 25/8/22, 26/8/22, 30/8/22 and 31/8/22 for any queries regarding school uniform, PE uniform, Young at Heart registration etc.

   

  - A letter outlining all back to school details including class/teacher arrangements for the incoming academic year will be circulated among parent/carers the week beginning Monday 29th August.
