Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
As part of ‘Walk to School Week,’ our pupils and staff members congregated at the park in DeCourcey Way this morning to participate in a ‘Walking Train’ to school.
After navigating our way down the back lanes, everyone arrived at school at 9am refreshed and ready for a busy day at Sacred Heart P.S.

Aisling Cunningham from the Cancer Fund for Children visited school this morning to receive a cheque for the sum of £150 from the P7 class. P7 decided to donate some of the profit from their JEP business venture to this most worthwhile of charities and Aisling was extremely grateful to receive the generous offering. Well done P7 on this altruistic gesture!

This morning our P4 class celebrated the Sacrament of First Holy Communion at a wonderful ceremony in the Sacred Heart Church led by Canon Fleck and co-celebrated by trainee Deacon James Uhomoibhi.
The boys and girls were excellently prepared and they participated wholeheartedly in the service with song, readings and prayer.
Gratitude is extended to P4 teacher Mr Doyle for guiding the class through this latest instalment in their spiritual journey. We also acknowledge the contribution of our classroom assistants Michelle Poland, Tom Boden, Orla Quinn and Kathleen Milligan for their sterling efforts.
To the school choir, under the direction of Mr Doyle and accompanied by Eva McAlea, we thank you for your superb input to the occasion along with Annette Kelly.
We also recognise the efforts of our school staff for hosting a lovely occasion back in the school hall in which all those in attendance got the opportunity to celebrate in unison.
We hope the boys and girls enjoy the rest of their big day!
The school as a whole has been focussing hard on attendance during this current academic year. The mantra: ‘Attendance Matters - Every Day Counts’ has been embedded throughout the physche of the children as the school year has progressed.
This morning at assembly all those children with a 100% attendance record for Term 2 were acknowledged. Well done to them all for attaining this!
