Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
A massive congratulations goes out to P7 pupils Oisin, Kayden, Eshylus, Max and Zara who recently completed and passed their Cycling Proficiency. They undertook a number of practical and theory based tasks in order to earn their pass status as cyclists.
These pupils worked very hard over the last number of months in order to achieve this accolade. They are all very knowledgeable when it comes to road safety and know that they always have to be very careful and safe on the road.
Well done!
This afternoon we welcomed the boys and girls from our new 2023/2024 P1 intake into Sacred Heart P.S. for a ‘Stay and Play’ session.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience as they got to engage in a number of activities both indoor and outdoor. It was a great opportunity for the children and parents alike to mix.
As a symbolic gesture for starting school in the next academic year, the boys and girls planted sunflower seeds in pots. They took these pots home with them and it is envisaged that the sunflowers will begin to bloom just as they begin P1.
Thank you to class teacher Miss Byrne for facilitating this afternoon and to our classroom assistants Laura and Cathy for their input too.
P6/P7 had a fantastic visit to the Ulster Museum in Belfast today.
The boys and girls availed of a ‘Discover Nature’ session where they learnt all about rainforests and their resources. They then attended the ‘Ancient Egyptian’ workshop where they were able to handle real Egyptian artefacts, like canopic jars and learn about what life would have been like thousands of years ago.
The children then explored the rest of the museum which had so many fascinating objects on display. A favourite was the mummy exhibition which houses the famous Takabuti.
There was just enough time at the end for pupils to take a stroll through the Tropical Ravine House in the Botanic Gardens, and view the many different species of plants.

Sports Day will take place this coming Friday (9th June) from 10am to 2pm at the GAA pitch.
Children are to come to school in their PE gear at the normal time. School dinners will operate and again these can be ordered the normal way. They will be brought down to the pitch at lunchtime. Those children who won't be availing of this can bring their own packed lunch.
Children in Young at Heart are to attend from 12noon to 2pm at the pitch. Parents are welcome to stay for the duration. Please provide your child with lunch as usual.
Parents/carers and family members are welcome to attend the event. There will be a van on-site serving tea, coffee and refreshments.
Children can go home at 2pm from the pitch with their parents/carers. There will be no 2pm to 3pm After School Clubs on this day.
Thanks.
Tomorrow (Thursday) our new P1's (2023/2024 intake) will be coming to Sacred Heart P.S. for a 'Stay and Play' session with class teacher Miss Byrne. This forms part of our induction process and a welcome booklet will be distributed as well. Parents are to accompany the children to the session which starts at 2:15pm and finishes at 3pm.
Thank you.
The whole school set off early this morning as they ventured to Funtasia in Drogheda for their end of year trip.
A great day was had by all with the water park, soft play area, arcade centre, crazy golf, theme park, funfair and bumper cars all proving to be extremely fun and enjoyable attractions!
Thank you to all of the school staff for accompanying the children on the trip. Well done once again to all our boys and girls who brilliantly represented the school with their full participation and impeccable manners.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) the whole school will be going to Funtasia, Drogheda, for our annual trip. We would ask that everyone be in school for 8am as the buses will be leaving at 8:15am sharp.
Pupils can wear their PE uniform on the trip (P7's are permitted to wear their Leavers' jumpers if they so wish). Everyone is asked to bring a bottle of water, break and a packed lunch in a plastic bag which can be disposed of in Funtasia. Can you all please ensure the packed lunches are all free of nuts as well.
P1-P4 children will be availing of the theme park, soft play, bowling and crazy golf. P5-P7 children will be going to the water park and bowling. For those P5-P7 children it is essential that they bring a swim bag with a towel, swimming suit and goggles (students can change back into their PE uniform after they have finished in the water park). The boys and girls can bring a maximum of €10 spending money with them for the trip too.
We anticipate being back to school for between 3:30pm and 3:45pm. Parents will be notified by text. Please note, as previously informed, there will be no Breakfast Club or After School Club provision tomorrow.
Thank you.
The sun was shining from start to finish for P2's class trip to Mount Stewart today. The theme of the excursion was 'Connect with Nature' and they did this through taking part in four activities:
- Bug Hunt (finding and identifying minibeasts in the forest)
- Tracking and Stalking (learning skills to find evidence of the animals which live in the forest)
- Find a Flock (identifying bird species by their call)
-Woodland Art (creating an animal using natural items gathered around us)
It was a fantastic day all round with everyone engaged and involved throughout. Every student ought to be very proud of themselves as they represented the school wonderfully and were given a bonus gift to take home for being such wonderful listeners with excellent manners.
Well done boys and girls!
