Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Last week the Student Council led a very successful fundraising initiative for Children in Need. ‘Guess the Amount of Sweets in the Jar’ and ‘Guess the Name of the Teddy’ were the two enterprises that were undertaken, with a grand total of £120 being raised!
Méabh in P7 and Kasia in P5 were the two winners of the competitions and today they were presented with their prizes. Well done to the Student Council for promoting this thoughtful charitable exercise and to staff member Annette for her help in co-ordinating it.

In Sacred Heart P.S. we strive to acknowledge the successes of our children in and out of school but we are always cognisant of the successes of our staff members too.
On Friday night, Dundrum GAC held their annual dinner dance in the Burrendale hotel, Newcastle. We were delighted to see Mr Doyle pick up the Senior Mens’ Player of the Year award, a staggering 19 years after he first won it in 2005! Our classroom assistants Michelle and Katie-Louise won the G4MO Sportswoman of the Year and Minor Girls’ Player of the Year awards respectively as well.
Well done to you all!
The school ran an internal Anti-Bullying Week poster competition. ‘Choose Respect’ was the theme for this year’s instalment and our children were asked to come up with poster designs to reflect this. There were some wonderful designs created with very pertinent messages, so well done to Coby P1, Jim P2, Jessica P3, Lochlan P4, Eilish and Aoife P5, Isla P6 and Charlie P7 for having their winning entries selected.

Darragh P5
Darragh has applied himself very well to all his subjects this academic year and has proven himself to be a great ‘all-rounder’. He has worked very hard in his Numeracy and shown full understanding of the new class topic (fractions).
Darragh has contributed excellent ideas to both the creative writing task this week and has also produced solid Literacy work.
He has shown a keen interest in the new WAU topic of Space and has demonstrated a keen motivation to learn in all the different aspects of this.
Darragh has taken to his part in the Christmas play practices extremely well and shown superb commitment to learning his lines and reading with expression.
Within the day-to-day routines of class he has displayed exemplary behaviour – he is a real credit to the school. Keep up all the great traits, Darragh!
P6 pupil Casey finished his season off in style as he achieved his maiden track success with a superb win at Bishopscourt.
After coming 2nd in the practice race, he then qualified in 1st, achieving pole position for both races. In Race 1 he got off to a poor start and ended up in 4th going into the first corner. He soon fought his way back to 1st but then his bike faltered and he had to retire from the contest.
After some fine tuning in the pit lane from his grandad he lined up for Race 2. For most of the race Casey was in 2nd place however there was drama at the last corner on the last lap as he overtook 1st place and got into the lead. Casey finished magnificently and fist pumped the air as he crossed the line in 1st place to take his first ever win. He also recorded the fastest lap for both races.
The whole school are very proud of your achievements. Well done Casey!
Sacred Heart P.S. travelled to the magnificent indoor 3G arena in Saintfield today to take part in the 1st Round of the East Down Schools’ Soccer League.
The team equipped themselves fantastically well and enjoyed competitive games against Braniel P.S., Carryduff P.S. and Academy P.S.
Well done to the panel of Casey, Elliot, Darragh, Niamh, Padraig, Oisin, Charlie and Ruadhán for their sterling efforts throughout!
