Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We as a school are immensely proud of our five pupil competitors who took part in this year’s GR8 Dundrum Run on Saturday past. Aoife P4, Caragh P4, Ruadhán P5, Oisin P6 and Ellie P6 all ran brilliantly and the five of them were enthused to bring their medals into school to show to all of their friends.
We can’t forget our own Mr Doyle as well, who also took part in the race, securing a very commendable time.
Well done to you all!
Murlough Athletic Club
Our inaugural ‘Muck In Monday’ proved to be a great success as the P4 to P7 classes along with staff members and a large contingent of parents came together for a school tidy up.
A lot of work was got through and we sincerely thank everyone for their efforts. We aim to make this a regular event, holding it once every half term.
Well done to our crossing patrol officer Gerry Kelly who was presented with a civic award in the ‘Community’ category for his remarkable 29 years of service in his role at our school.
Gerry is pictured at last Friday night’s awards ceremony with the chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Valerie Harte, and compere Conor Phillips.
Friday 27th October will see the school host a 'Halloween Party Day.' This promises to be a spooktacular event with children encouraged to come to school in fancy dress. There will be traditional games, a disco and much much more with everything taking place during the school day! A great event lies in store as we bring Term 1.1. to a close.
Calling all parents, family members and school community volunteers!
This coming Monday (9th October), the P4 to P7 children will come together with parents, family and members of our school community in an effort to clean, tidy and maintain our school estate.
Our first get together will take place from 1:30pm to 3pm. It promises to be a fun and worthwhile venture as we all take great pride in our surroundings!
Please bring any equipment that you may have; brushes, tools, gardening equipment etc.
Thanks.
Darragh P6
Darragh has had a superb start to P6. He has been making a sustained effort within all areas of the curriculum but has been particularly impressive within Numeracy. He has demonstrated full understanding and has been challenging himself with problem solving and reasoning extensions.
During writing lessons, he will always have his hand up to contribute his imaginative and creative ideas. He takes great pride in his work, ensuring that it is well organised and his handwriting is neat and tidy. He is also continually improving on the pace of his writing!
Darragh must be commended on the attitude he brings to school. He is not afraid to try something new or volunteer an answer. He has a fantastic sense of humour and is always entertaining his peers with a joke or a story but also knows when he needs to put his head down during lessons.
Well done on a great start to the year Darragh!
On Wednesday 11th October, renowned author Charlie Graham will be visiting the school. He will be participating in read throughs of his book with all classes. His book, 'Missing Monkeys,' is available for a special pre purchase rate of £7 on SchoolMoney under the 'Shop' tab. If you are interested in purchasing this book for your child, it can be done through this way. The children will then receive the book next Wednesday.
Thank you.
