Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
An incredible evening of Tug O’ War entertainment was had at Páirc Seán Ó Caoilte as we held another instalment of our ever popular school fundraiser.
All the boys and girls from P1 to P7 got to enjoy some healthy competition before the much anticipated adult clashes kicked off.
Well done to our winning team ‘Get the Pick Up Right ‘ who defeated the reigning champions ‘Pull the Other One’ in a pulsating final!
Thank you to all the teams for taking part and to all those in our school community who attended and supported the event. Gratitude is extended to POSH for their contribution and organisation as well.
Another brilliant fundraiser for Sacred Heart P.S.!
Miss Crozier’s P6/P7 class ventured to Knockevin Special School in Castlewellan this morning for the first of their Shared Education sessions of the new school year.
The Sacred Heart P.S. boys and girls joined in with the school assembly that was marking World Hunger Day. Everyone enjoyed a dance at the end of assembly followed by milkshakes and biscuits!
The Knockevin pupils then gave their Sacred Heart counterparts a tour of their school and its fabulous outdoor areas.
The morning finished off with team building and ‘Get to Know Me’ exercises and games.
This was a great start to what is sure to be solid friendships and collaboration moving forward.
We had a record amount of applications for these roles and today at assembly, our Digital Leaders team for the 2022/23 academic year was announced.
Elsie P5, Elliot P5, Ronan P6, Christopher P6, Cara P6, Max P7, Oisin P7, Erin P7, Cara P7 and Effie P7 will make up the membership under the guidance of ICT co-ordinator Mr Doyle.
Their responsibilities will include:
- Setting up and operating the school hall computer for weekly choir and assembly.
- Helping children to log on to Education City at Wednesday Homework Club.
- Giving instructions on how to be safe online.
- Helping teachers with ICT lessons in coding and animation.
- Assisting to ensure that all iPads go back to their classes before 3pm each day and that they are charged in the morning.
Good luck in your new roles!
Cara Trainor P6
Cara is a very conscientious pupil who takes great pride in her work. Her handwriting and presentation is always excellent and most importantly, Cara takes the time to check over and correct her work.
She has been working very hard during lessons and has demonstrated a great degree of perseverance during difficult problem solving tasks.
Cara is very busy around school and contributes to many areas of school life, whether that be After School Clubs, choir, guitar or sports such as Gaelic and netball.
She immerses herself in each activity and will always give it her best effort!
Well done on a fantastic start to the school year!
In recognition of Father Fleck’s advancement to Canon, the school presented him with a memento today at assembly.
The keepsake was a mosaic in the theme of the Sacred Heart. Every child contributed to the piece and we thank our staff members, Maria and Annette, for leading the creation.
Mr Maurice Redmond, Chairperson of the Board of Governors, spoke on behalf of the school as we acknowledged Canon Fleck’s new role. The presentation was made to the Canon by our youngest and oldest pupils, Kiannah-Mae and Effie, respectively.
Dundrum Tyrella Parish
Today Julie from the Dogs Trust visited our school. The organisation believes that by educating young people about staying safe around dogs, we can really improve dog welfare for the better. The experiences gleaned from the visit have taught our children compassion, care and respect towards animals.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
