Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Our final recipient of this award for the current academic year is Leah in P1. Leah has embraced the Irish language since she started school here in August. She uses her phrases confidently and she encourages others around her to engage in Cúpla Focal. Her P1 classmates have done great work in relation to our Scoil Spreagtha accreditation with Leah to the forefront in this.
Maith thú Leah!
It was absolutely delightful to hear at assembly this morning about all the amazing traits of our Pupil of the Week winners. The reasoning in choices was outstandingly brilliant and served to showcase the great strengths that the winners possess.
Well done to Flynn P1, Mairéad P2, Niamh P3, Fionn P4, Éabha P5, Noah P6 and Sofia P7!
Our final instalment of the Mathlete of the Month awards for the 2024/2025 academic year were announced today with Max P1, Jude P2, Rosie P3, Aaron P4, Cailie P5, Catarina P6 and Pádraig P7 all being the most worthy of recipients. The winners were all lauded for their progress in the subject area and their ability to engage with mental maths strategies, problem solving and practical activities.
Well done!
A huge thank you goes to all those within our school community who attended the POSH Bonkers Bingo event in The Dundrum Inn on Saturday night. It was a fun filled evening and a great success all round with £935 raised for school funds!
Gratitude goes to the members of POSH for their organisation and input into the event. Your efforts are much valued.
Shea P4
This award goes to a student who has consistently excelled across the curriculum.
Throughout P4, he has shown a particular strength in Numeracy, especially mental maths, and he demonstrates strong reading fluency and comprehension. His enthusiasm for learning and natural curiosity about the world are evident in everything that he does.
Shea follows instructions carefully, shows excellent manners (always greeting staff with a cheerful “good morning” or “good afternoon”) and is a reliable and thoughtful member of our school community. Each morning, he takes it upon himself to charge the iPads, ensuring they’re ready for a full day of learning. He is always early, never misses a day and he brings a positive attitude to school every single day.
Outside the classroom, he is a keen sports enthusiast. He impressed us all on Sports Day by winning several events and continues to show his dedication through extra-curricular activities such as swimming, jiu-jitsu, running and Gaelic Games. His kind nature, witty humour and ability to get along with everyone make him a valued friend and classmate.
It has been a joy to watch him grow this year, and we know he’s more than ready for the challenges and opportunities that P5 will bring.
Well done Shea!
Six teams battled it out at a resplendid Páirc Seán Ó Caoilte this morning at the 4th Annual Jarlath Carey Memorial Tournament.
Each team played each other once with St Joseph’s P.S. Carnacaville and St Francis’ P.S. Drumaroad advancing to the Cup final, St Macartan’s P.S. Loughinisland and Sacred Heart P.S. Dundrum progressing to the Shield decider and St Michael’s P.S. Finnis and St Nicholas’ P.S. Ardglass venturing forward to an exhibition game.
For the 2nd year in a row St Joseph’s P.S. Carnacaville clinched the Jarlath Carey Memorial Cup after a hard earned win over a very game St Francis’ P.S. Drumaroad side. Sacred Heart P.S. were aiming for their third Dundrum GAC Shield success in succession but they were denied by a gallant St Macartan’s P.S. team who won by a point to take the honours.
Well done to our winners and all of our participating teams. Thanks goes to our three referees, Katie-Louise Poland, Evan Stone and Caragh Ferris along with Kaylee Poland for officiating and assisting with logistics. To club secretary Christine Cummins for presenting the Dundrum GAC Shield and to Cliodhna and Martin Carey for representing their family in the presentation of the Jarlath Carey Memorial Cup.
