The 2023/2024 academic year came to a close today as our children got off for their summer holidays. It has been a memorable time in Sacred Heart P.S. as we celebrated our 50th anniversary on our current site over these past 12 months.
Lots will be happening over the next couple of months with our choir opening the Dundrum Village Festival on Saturday 6th July, the ActiSport camp taking place at the school from Monday 29th July to Friday 2nd August and the annual Dundrum GAC club camp at the GAA grounds from Monday 5th August to Friday 9th August.
School will start back for the 2024/2025 academic year on Tuesday 27th August for all pupils (P1 to P7 inclusive). Until then, we wish all of our pupils, family members and those in our school community a very enjoyable and relaxing summer!

Our P7’s had their final day in Sacred Heart P.S. yesterday. A wonderful Leavers’ Ceremony took place in our hall with individual awards, a Q&A presentation and a nostalgic reel of our leavers’ time in the school being shown. A beautiful meal was had by all in attendance afterwards.
A huge thank you goes to class teacher Miss Crozier along with classroom assistants Annette Kelly and Tom Boden for facilitating an emotional yet memorable occasion. Not to forget all the rest of our school staff and pupils who ensured that our P7’s got the send off that they all deserved.

Niamh P2
Niamh is a very hardworking and well-mannered pupil who strives to do her best every day in Sacred Heart P.S. She is a very enthusiastic learner and thoroughly enjoys learning new things across the curriculum.
Niamh takes to new concepts in Numeracy and Literacy extremely well and she can retain information brilliantly. She is an avid reader and has excelled through the Accelerated Reader programme this year in P2.
Niamh loves to write and regularly shows Mr McCartan fabulous writing pieces that she does at home. She takes great pride in her work ensuring that tasks are always presentable. Niamh has a great understanding of number bonds as well and so with this, she really enjoys Mental Math activities done in class. Niamh also enjoys being creative and shows fabulous style and imagination throughout art lessons.
Niamh has a very caring nature and looks to put others first. Mr McCartan is so proud with how she has conducted herself throughout P2 and we all know she will continue to shine in P3 and beyond. Niamh you are a very worthy recipient of this award.
Well done!
Mr Lundy’s class visited the Ulster Folk Museum today, immersing themselves in the rich heritage and history of Ireland, which of course was the class World Around Us topic in Term 3.
Strolling through the meticulously recreated historical village, the class experienced daily life as it was in a bygone era. A highlight of the trip was attending a ‘lesson from the past’ in a traditional schoolhouse, where everyone learned about the educational practices of the time.
This hands-on experience provided P5/P6 with a unique and memorable insight into history, making the past come alive right before their eyes.
Sports Day 2024 has come and gone and on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week we held two medal ceremonies; one for Young at Heart and P1 to P3 and a second for P4 to P7.
Well done to every single competitor who embraced Soorts Day and all its events and with healthy competitiveness very much the theme, we congratulate all of our medal winners too!
