Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Mr Doyle’s P4/P5 class had an exciting day on their food tour of Dundrum as part of their WAU topic, 'Food.'
Their first stop was the Tonn Ruray, where the children learned to make pancakes and cookies, decorating their cookies afterward. They also discovered how to make lemonade fizzy using baking soda and citric acid. Owner Michael explained how prices are set, considering costs like staff wages, electricity and ingredients.
Next, at Cúpla, Dom and Naomi shared their experience of sourcing coffee from Colombia and discussed the significance of Fair Trade products. The children enjoyed sampling chocolate brownies and hot chocolate.
Finally, at Scopers, Paul spoke about his grandfather's influence on his cooking and the importance of using seasonal, sustainable ingredients. The class left with tasty baked treats to enjoy at school!
A big thanks to the two Michael’s, Claire, Karina and grandma Ann in the Tonn Ruray, to Dom and Naomi from Cúpla and to Paul at Scopers.

Jude is a polite, well-mannered and hard-working pupil who wants to try his best every day in school. He has made an excellent start to P2 and he is a very worthy recipient of this award.
Well done!
P1 along with P7 joined forces today for a joint Forest School collaboration. They searched for conkers and created some spiders out of natural resources.
The children love these trips up to the forest. They are developing important skills like being creative, working with others and establishing responsibility. An excellent undertaking for the development of Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities (TSPC).
Sacred Heart P.S. were delighted to welcome Adrian, Harry and Sofia’s dad, into school on Monday. Adrian is a renowned chef having worked across many prestigious establishments in London.
P4/P5 are currently enjoying the World Around Us topic of ‘Food’ and so Mr Doyle invited Adrian in to showcase some fantastic cooking skills and concepts to the children. Fresh focaccia bread and dip along with crêpes and some wonderful marshmallow topped brownies were created with the children greatly involved in the process.
Thank you to Adrian for lending his culinary expertise to the event. It was much appreciated. As were all the delicious creations that the pupils and staff got to enjoy too!
Saturday 12th October sees the annual GR8 Dundrum Run come to the village once again. As ever, Sacred Heart P.S. are delighted to be able to offer our facilities to the club over the course of the weekend in assisting with registrations and preparation. It is important for us as a school to be an integral cog in supporting community events.
Well done and good luck to the boys and girls from P6 and P7 who have entered the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Environmental Poster Competition.
They conjured up an amazing array of creative posters, highlighting important issues such as climate change, littering, recycling and sustainable transport.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
