A fantastic morning of Mathematics permeated through Sacred Heart P.S. as our annual Maths Bee drew great interest. Every child was given the opportunity to participate and showcase their skills with the area of Numeracy.
Thank you to Mr Doyle, our subject lead within the school in this area, for his organisation of the event and the provision of prizes and certifications for our class winners.
#mathsweek
It was an extremely busy five days in Sacred Heart P.S. with Maths Week and Recycle Week both having prominence. All the classes were high on productivity and learning and to that effect we would like to congratulate our Pupil ot the Week winners for their endeavours namely Robyn P1, Eimíle P2, Jessica P3, James P4, Sonny P5, Aoibhe P6 and Oisin P7!
The culmination of Maths Week saw our annual Maths Bee competition held this morning in the hall. Every boy and girl from P1 to P7 was involved and they all got the chance to show off their mental calculation skills and quick recall.
Each class was highly competitive and the last eliminator round kept everyone in the audience pinned to their seat due to the excitement to see who was going to come out on top.
In the end Cara P1, James P2, Logan P3, Shea P4, Eilish P5, Ruadhán P6 and Darragh P7 all emerged victorious and were deservedly crowned Maths Bee winners in their respective classes.

Flynn P1
Flynn is a very deserving recipient of this award. He has impressed all of the staff here at Sacred Heart P.S. with his kind, caring and bubbly nature.
Flynn has an infectious energy and always has a big smile on his face. He has exemplary manners and he shows a mature attitude towards learning.
Flynn is a keen storyteller and is already starting to blend words independently which is a fantastic achievement.
He is an excellent role model and a pleasure to teach. Keep up the outstanding work!
Mr Doyle’s P4/P5 class had an exciting day on their food tour of Dundrum as part of their WAU topic, 'Food.'
Their first stop was the Tonn Ruray, where the children learned to make pancakes and cookies, decorating their cookies afterward. They also discovered how to make lemonade fizzy using baking soda and citric acid. Owner Michael explained how prices are set, considering costs like staff wages, electricity and ingredients.
Next, at Cúpla, Dom and Naomi shared their experience of sourcing coffee from Colombia and discussed the significance of Fair Trade products. The children enjoyed sampling chocolate brownies and hot chocolate.
Finally, at Scopers, Paul spoke about his grandfather's influence on his cooking and the importance of using seasonal, sustainable ingredients. The class left with tasty baked treats to enjoy at school!
A big thanks to the two Michael’s, Claire, Karina and grandma Ann in the Tonn Ruray, to Dom and Naomi from Cúpla and to Paul at Scopers.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
