Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Charlie from P5 was today’s recipient of the Principal’s Award. Charlie is an exceptionally polite and well mannered pupil. He is an extremely popular member of his class and a great friend to all. Charlie has an amazing talent for art and the standard of work that he produces is excellent. All his work is filled with creativity and his presentation is second to none. Charlie is also highly competent in Numeracy and he enjoys taking on challenges and solving problems. Likewise, he has produced some outstanding outcomes in World Around Us recently too.
Well done!
There is a strong culture of Continued Professional Development (CPD) in Sacred Heart P.S. and we were delighted yesterday to team up with one of our partner schools, St Mary’s P.S. Dunsford for collaborative staff training.
The workshop was led by Claire Devlin Consultancy with the themes centred on Literacy through World Around Us accompanied with integrated Talking and Listening. There was also great inspiration provided for using our locality here in Dundrum as a vehicle for outdoor learning opportunities.
The content of this workshop will be progressed by our teachers and embedded into teaching within the school, for the benefit of all of our children.
Sacred Heart P.S. in conjunction with POSH (Parents of Sacred Heart) currently operate a successful Gift Aid Scheme.
As the school continues to grow and evolve, we are constantly looking to innovate in regard to fundraising and the generation of financial support.
We are reaching out to our current parents and families as well as collective alumni to raise awareness of the scheme with the hope that more patrons will decide to come on board.
In 2023, Sacred Heart P.S. will celebrate 50 years on its current site. As we move toward that milestone we thank our existing support base and look forward to welcoming on board our new patrons.
Many thanks,
Mark Fitzsimons (Principal).
Delilah from P4 is this week’s recipient of the Principal’s Award. Delilah has been making outstanding progress across the curriculum throughout this academic year. She is a hard working girl who gives her all to every endeavour that she undertakes. Her literacy work along with high levels of concentration are currently two of her strongest attributes.
Keep it up!
An eclectic mix of GAA jerseys were on show today in school with everything from Ballykinlar, Liatroim, Clonduff and Glenn tops all making appearances! However, the distinctive red of Dundrum GAC took prominence above all.
Well done to the Student Council on their organisation of this day. The funds raised will go towards our playground redevelopment.
Thank you all.
The school was awash today with literary characters from the past and the present as everyone dressed up for a wonderful instalment of World Book Day.
There was healthy competition in each class for the most original/inventive book character costume.
The following were judged as winners:
P1 - Aaron - The Snail and the Whale
P2 - Seth - Stickman
P3 - Austin - Danny the Champion of the World
P4 - Charlie - Junior Encyclopaedia
P5 - Freya - Mary Poppins
P6 - Caitlin - Gangsta Granny
P7 - Niamh - Eily from Under the Hawthorn Tree
Well done to the whole school for an incredible effort which showed superb creativity!
