The boys and girls from Sacred Heart PS participated in a ‘just for fun’ non competitive Football Blitz. They really enjoyed a busy morning of football, playing many schools from the local Downpatrick Area. As always, they were very skilful, hardworking and showed excellent sportsmanship throughout- great representatives of their school!

Dr Edoardo Grottoli and Dr Melanie Biausque from Ulster University visited P6/7 to inform the pupils about (local) coastal erosion and endangered marine life. Flappy, the giant Flapper Skate Model, was brought along by the team to draw attention to a local marine creature under threat- the children enjoyed the presentation and were much more informed of the role that they can play in ensuring local marine conservation.
A huge thank you to all of our parents, pupils, staff and Dundrum GAC for supporting our very successful Tug of War and PoSH Quiz Fundraiser on Friday evening (20.9.19). It was great to see the whole school community involved and enjoying a great evening of entertainment. Well done to the winning team ‘The Drag Queens’- winners of the adult Tug of War Competition. We raised a truly magnificent total of approx £2000 for school funds which will go towards purchasing additional ICT Resources, funding STEAM Workshops and reducing the cost of our trip to W5 on the 25th October. SvDP will receive a £250 donation to support all of their fantastic work.

The Dundrum Development Association recently supported Sacred Heart PS with a hugely generous donation of £5000. The donation went towards the purchase of a new state of the art Multitouch Whiteboard, Laptops & Charging Station, iPads and Programmable devices. Members of the Association were in school yesterday to inspect their investment and they were very impressed with the new equipment. Everyone at the school is very grateful for their continued support of Sacred Heart Primary School!
First Term Fundraiser
We are running our First Term Fundraiser in aid of school funds and SvDP which will take place on Friday 20th September 2019. The Fundraiser includes a Tug of War competition and PoSH Quiz. We require each child/family to gain sponsorship – (Sponsorship Form and letter to be sent home on Monday).
Tug of War
The Tug of War event begins at 6pm for children - pupils will compete in mixed teams within their class using a best of three style. Teams will be arranged by teachers and will only be for fun. After the pupil competition has finished there will be some game/music activities from Actisport.
There will then be a family competition using a best of three format. Family teams should ideally be comprised of four adult men and four adult women. There will be a £100 cash prize for the winning family/families. It is also possible for two or three families to pair up and make one team.. Teams entering should present Mr Doyle with their team name and list of members before Friday 20th September.
The evening will finish with a Sacred Heart PS v winners of the adult team competition. It is anticipated Tug of War will finish around 7.30pm. Tea, coffee and refreshments will be served throughout.
All pupils who take part in the Fundraiser and raise funds for school and SvdP will receive free entry to A Night at the Movies to be held in school on Friday 4th October at 6.30pm. Drinks, popcorn and additional treats will be provided free of charge. There will also be tea and buns for parents should they wish to stay. We will have our brand new state of the art Assembly Hall Board which will be used.
