• Bike to School Week

  Bike to School Week witnessed high numbers of participating boys and girls taking part in an effort to cycle or scoot to school during these past five days.

  We also welcomed John Ross of Ross Cycles to Sacred Heart P.S. on Thursday. He performed a Dr Bike session with every class, showing them all the mechanics of bikes as well as giving some great tips on road safety.

• Travelling Book Fair

  Our Annual Travelling Book Fair has arrived to Sacred Heart. Each class will have the opportunity to visit during school time with their teacher and browse through the book fair.

  If you would like your child to purchase a book from the book fair, please send money in a labelled envelope for your child to use. You can send this money in anytime from tomorrow onwards. Please refer to the timetable below for each class visit to the book fair.

  P1 and P2- Friday 1st October

  P3- Tuesday morning 5th October

  P4- Tuesday afternoon 5th October

  P5- Wednesday 6th October

  P6/P7 - Thursday 7th October

• Nueronimo Home Log In

  As part of our commitment to collaboration, we have included a Neuronimo at Home link for parents. This supplements any Neuronimo learning in school. The home access is not compulsory but we do encourage it where possible.

  This link is unique to Sacred Heart Primary School. The link will take parents to the Learning Management System where they will be prompted to sign up and create a log-in. This will give them access to selected course material. Each parent will have an individual log-in so they can move through the course at their preferred pace.

• Neuronimo

  Our school is taking part in a programme called Neuronimo. Neuronimo is a children and young person’s mental and physical health programme. It is being delivered by a children’s charity called Reverse the Trend Foundation in partnership with the Education Authority in the North.

  The aim of the initiative is to promote mental wellness in our children. Reverse the Trend Foundation uses evidence-based neuroscience to tackle these issues. It does not rely on short-term fixes such as limiting screen time. Instead, the Neuronimo programme uses evidence supported by University partners to change behaviour and create healthy habits around mental and physical health.

  Children and young people complete short, fun, goal-orientated tasks over a period of 12 weeks with their teacher in school. During the programme they are supported online by Neuronimo Ambassadors who help create healthy habits. The tasks can be as short as 3-4 minutes for mental health tasks or 15 minutes for physical activity tasks.

  The Neuronimo programme is also available for use at home. This is an opportunity to supplement any learning your child may have had in class. Log in details will be provided for home access next week.

• Recycle Week

  Sacred Heart P.S. strives to be environmentally aware and active. Therefore we opted to take part in Recycle Week.

  Throughout the school, each class participated in presentations, discussions and research linked to the theme of recycling.

  It was great to see litter picks taking place around the village as well as new items being created from a range of recyclable materials.

  This group are very keen to get meeting to plan for new initiatives for the school year ahead. Miss Crozier will oversee the Eco Council this year.

  The Principal’s Award this week went to P5 pupil Lorcan. Lorcan sets a shining example in class with his work ethic and determination to succeed in everything that he does. He is a great friend to everyone and an all round brilliant pupil.
