Lá Fhéile Bríde
La Fhéile Bríde is a Gaelic traditional festival. It marks the beginning of spring, and for Christians, it is the feast day of St Brigid, Ireland's patroness saint. It is held on 1st February every year, which is about halfway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.
Mr Doyle’s P4 class got the opportunity to make Cros Brídes. Using rushes, the boys and girls made woven diamonds with a lozenge shape incorporated into the centre.
It is believed that hanging Cros Brídes from the rafters of one’s house is believed to bring the blessing and protection of the saint for the remainder of the year!
