This morning a panel of eight Sacred Heart P.S. players travelled to St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan, to take part in the Down GAA Cumann na mBunscol Girls’ Indoor Competition.
Our girls were drawn in a group with St Patrick’s P.S. Hilltown, Bunscoil Bheanna Boirche, Castlewellan, and St Michael’s P.S. Finnis.
After an opening 1-03 to 0-01 defeat against St Patrick’s P.S. Hilltown, the girls regrouped with a fantastic 0-04 to 0-01 success over Bunscoil Bheanna Boirche, Castlewellan. In their final group game, a very good St Michael’s P.S. Finnis were the opposition. However, the Sacred Heart P.S. team put in a superb performance to win 2-03 to 0-02.
After having finished runners up in their group, Sacred Heart P.S. were now drawn against St Malachy’s P.S. Kilcoo in the quarter finals. A fantastic match ensued with St Malachy’s P.S. winning by a single point, 1-02 to 1-01, to earn their passage through to the semi finals.
The Sacred Heart P.S. girls were all brilliant on the day and represented themselves and their school with pride. Well done goes to the panel namely, Zara, Katie-Ann, Jasmin, Cara, Effie, Erin, Freya and Leah!
Thank you goes to the Cumann na mBunscol organisers for running an excellent tournament.
