Sacred Heart P.S. put in a superb day of football as they reached the semi final stage of the prestigious St Louis G.S. 7’s tournament.
The opening match against St Columban’s P.S. Kilkeel was tight throughout with the Mourne side striking a couple of late goals to win out 4-03 to 1-03. A goal fest against another Kilkeel school, Gaelscoil na mBeann, followed as both teams hit 16 between them with the Gaeligeoirs succeeding 9-04 to 7-06. In the final group game, Sacred Heart P.S. put on a determined show, ending up 11-03 to 7-04 victors against St Patrick’s P.S. Burrenreagh.
With the young Dundrum team finishing third in their group, they were drawn against Grange P.S., another Kilkeel based side in the semi final of the Shield. A brilliant 2nd half from Sacred Heart P.S. got them within six points at the long whistle, losing out 6-03 to 3-06. Well done to Grange P.S. for going on and winning the Shield final.
The panel of 10 Sacred Heart P.S. players were a credit to their school and their club for the high level of competitiveness that was shown throughout the tournament. Well done to Casey P6, Cahal P6, Elliot P7, Charlie P7, Seth P5, Ruadhán P6, Eoin P5, Darragh P7, Pádraig P7 and Jude P7 on an excellent showing!
