After kickstarting our inaugural Pupil Forum concept last month, this morning a group of seven children (one from each class) met with Mr Fitzsimons for the second instalment.
The focus today was all based around learning in school. Four questions were posed namely: ‘What do you like learning in school?’ ‘What is your favourite subject area and why?’ ‘What is the best way to learn?’ and ‘What are the challenging aspects of learning?’ The responses and discussions that emanated from this were extremely beneficial.
Numeracy, World Around Us topic work, the RE Grow in Love programme and the creative writing aspect of Literacy were some of the most popular areas of learning in school. Group work, outdoor exploration, games, IPad apps, partner exchange and the use of digital technology were put forward as the best ways to learn. The challenging aspects of learning were also delved into with higher order thinking Numeracy, extended writing, problem solving across the curriculum, division of numbers and generating ideas for narrative writing emerging.
All in all, a very productive Pupil Forum session that provided serious food for thought moving forward.
