Sacred Heart P.S. were fully participant in National Coding Week 2021. Using the vast range of coding based equipment and resources that we have here in school, the boys and girls got to experience a wide range of coding activities and challenges.
Beebot robots were used for sequencing, estimation, problem solving and just having fun!
Scratch was enjoyed as the children got to program their own interactive stories, games and animations. Thinking creatively, reasoning systematically and working collaboratively were skills built upon.
The Spheros were a great tool for creating the outline of shapes, programming the ‘bots to navigate a maze and even for a game of football!
Some classes also engaged with Lightbot. A very entertaining game app whose mechanics require using programming logic to solve levels.
One class thought outside the box and completed some offline coding tasks. Here, the basic principles of metacognition, problem solving and abstract thinking were all to the fore.
