Sacred Heart P.S. travelled to Ardglass GAC this morning to take part in their group qualifier. In their pot were Holy Family P.S. Teconnaught, St Nicholas’ P.S. Ardglass and Bunscoil Bheanna Boirche, Castlewellan.
Up first was an enthralling tie with Holy Family P.S. Both teams played good football throughout. The game was nip and tuck right up until the final whistle with a draw being the result in the end.
St Nicholas’ P.S. were next up for the Sacred Heart P.S. boys. It was a close first half but the Reds pushed on in the second half to earn a four point victory.
The last game of the group was the best of the day. The Dundrum boys led the Bunscoil by a point with a couple of minutes remaining. But two late goals from the Gaeligeoirs saw them emerge victorious by five points. They went on to top the group and qualify for the county 9-a-side semi finals.
The big positive for Sacred Heart P.S. is that out of the panel of 15, 12 are all eligible next year with another 8 still able to play in two year’s time! A great experience for them all.
