P2 Shadows
P2 have shown a keen interest in 'Our World.' Today they took advantage of the sunshine to explore how shadows are made.
First they learnt that they needed a light source and a solid object to make a shadow. Then they compared their own shadow at 9:00am and 1:00pm.
This was a good opportunity to learn some new vocabulary. They learnt that 'to compare' means to look at the similarities and differences of two things.
The pupils then recognised that their shadow had changed because the position of the sun had changed. Predictions were then made and it was predicted that when the sun is lower in the sky in the evening, shadows will be longer.
During play time, the class created some animal shadows using their hands and had a fun game of 'shadow catchies.’Who knew shadows could be so much fun?
