Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
There is a great buzz in school today as we bring to an end an energetic and constructive Term 2.1 here in Sacred Heart P.S. As we approach the midterm break, the following were the commendable winners of our Pupil of the Week awards:
P1 - Luke
P2 - Jake
P3 - Darlene
P4 - Isla
P5 - Aoife
P6 - Kayden
P7 - Brendan
Well done!
Across the school today we took part in activities to support the themes and messages of Safer Internet Day. Our children are highly aware of their online environment and the work that was undertaken re-enforced the good practice that exists here in school and at home.
We would like to remind parents/carers of the Safer Schools NI app that was recently launched here in school. It is an excellent resource for up to date and informative info related to online safeguarding.

This morning our P5/P6/P7 classes engaged in the HIP Psychology ’Mental Health Week Megathon Extravaganza.’ Led by past pupil Cormac Venney and his team at HIP, we participated in a lively and entertaining online workshop. Many different themes were explored with our boys and girls addressing some very topical issues in relation to their mental health.

This week saw Sacred Heart P.S. push through the '100 Days of School' barrier and today we acknowledged that milestone in our school year.
P2 imagined what life would be like if they reached the grand old age of 100 using a special 'ageing' app.
P4 got tremendously creative in the school yard with a superb array of designs to mark the century of days in school.
P6/P7 entered a reflective mood and looked back on their school year to date, charting the highs of their endeavours so far.
Today Miss Crozier’s P6/P7 class welcomed Michael Nugent, founder and owner of Nugelato, to school for the next stage of their JEP journey.
A Q&A session was held, with the boys and girls getting the opportunity to ask Michael a range of questions related to his entrepreneurship and business.
This proved to be a fantastic exercise and everyone learned so much from it. A huge thank you goes to Michael for participating and for all the free Nugelato ‘Nuggy Pot’ vouchers that he handed out to the class. Michael has also invited the P6/P7’s to Nugelato in Newcastle in Term 3 to see it in operation!

We are currently making plans to celebrate the 50th Anniversary in 2023 of Sacred Heart P.S. on our current school site. To this effect, a committee will be formed to help organise the various events throughout 2023. Please see below for further details. It would be great if this could be shared among all alumni and those currently associated with our school community.
Thank you.
It was with great satisfaction that Fionn (P1) was today given the Principal’s Award. It was noted that Fionn is a very sociable boy who engages well with his peers and adults alike. Miss Murray also remarked how Fionn is a great helper to the other boys and girls in his class when they are, for example, needing help with understanding a piece of work. Fionn shows great confidence in everything that he does and is a very deserving winner this week!
