Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Our After School Gardening Club were busy at work this afternoon weeding and preparing the ground for the spring planting of new wild flowers. The lane way that leads from Main St adjacent to the chapel, up the steps to the school yard, will be completely transformed.
Thank you boys and girls for your efforts with this to date.
Today the Love for Life team visited Sacred Heart P.S. to put on three RSE themed workshops for the children. The P3 and P4 classes took part in ‘Wonder!’ while the P6’s enjoyed ‘Choices and Changes.’ P7 participated in ‘What’s Inside?’
We witnessed effective and high-quality RSE teaching and learning today which has provided our young people with the opportunity to examine their own values and beliefs in light of those held by others. In doing so, this can contribute to a more tolerant and inclusive society by fostering respect and understanding of difference, and empathy for the views, emotions and feelings of others.
Catholic Schools’ Week was celebrated in schools across Ireland this past week. The theme for CSW 2022 was ‘Catholic Schools: Living Life to the Full.’
Every Catholic school fosters the holistic development of its students, promotes their wellbeing and encourages them to learn and nurture their talent and skills. Each child has the potential to change the world for the better, making it a kinder, more inclusive and more welcoming place.
Sacred Heart P.S. were fully participant in the week long array of events with Grandparents’ Day on Wednesday being a particular focus for all of the classes.

As we strive to provide a varied and appealing After School Club Programme, we were enthused this term to bring Guitar and Irish into our offering for the children.
Both have had fantastic uptake and Mr Doyle (Guitar) and Miss Byrne (Irish) have been greatly impressed by the progress that everyone is making.
The end of January is close and so today our school awarded the Pupil of the Month accolades. Teachers think long and hard as to who is deserving of these awards and after much deliberation, the following were acknowledged:
P1 - Sophie
P2 - Mark Óg
P3 - Casey
P4 - April
P5 - Sophie
P6 - Ramona
P7 - Martin
Niall from P7 was today’s recipient of the Principal’s Award. Niall comes into school everyday with a ‘can do’ positive attitude. This positive attitude works through everything that he does and enables him to produce outstanding outcomes across the board.
Niall is also a big presence in school life and his contribution to the various different aspects of this marks him out as a superb role model for the other children in school.
P6 pupil Oisin was a very deserving winner this week of the Principal’s Award. Oisin has many great attributes none more so than the courtesy and respect that he shows for everyone in our school community. He is also extremely diligent with his school work and with this comes a hard working attitude that serves him so well.
Well done Oisin!
