October Edition of Heart Beat
School reopens tomorrow for the second part of our first term here in Sacred Heart P.S. We hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable break over Halloween.
Breakfast Club resumes as normal tomorrow morning while our After School Club provision begins tomorrow as well. Please click the link below to view our programme of activities that will take us up to Tuesday 21st December.
We are looking forward to another productive and enjoyable time in school as we work towards the festive period.
See you all tomorrow!
Last week Sacred Heart P.S. took park in Maths Week Ireland. The annual event seeks to encourage a ‘maths for all’ ethos in schools.
The focus of the week was to promote positive attitudes towards maths, to advance the understanding of maths and its impact on our world and to further the understanding of our world through maths.
All classes got involved in a wide range of practical, investigative and online games and activities. A productive learning experience for everyone!
A damp and drizzly Saturday evening did little to detract from a huge crowd turning up to support our Tug O’ War fundraiser at the GAA grounds.
There were children and adult competitions along with ActiSport providing onsite entertainment. Tea, coffee and refreshments were provided for those in attendance.
The children’s competitions proved to be fiercely enjoyable while a strong turnout of adults competed well with the team of ‘Pull the Other One’ finishing as winners. Well done to Noel, Lisa, Jonathan, Shauna, Sean, Paula, Gary and Lynette on their victory!
Thanks goes to POSH for their organisation of the evening along with staff members from the school. Appreciation is also relayed to all those who supported the event and to everyone for taking part!
On Friday past, the whole school ventured to We Are Vertigo in Newtownbreda for a very enjoyable school trip.
The boys and girls (along with the staff!) had a fantastic time in the Inflatable Park followed by the Adventure Centre.
This was a great way to finish off what has been a busy start to the school year in Sacred Heart P.S. Thanks too goes to POSH for their contribution towards the cost of the trip.
Well done to everyone once again for their entries into our first ever pumpkin carving competition. It proved to be an entertaining undertaking and was enjoyed by children and parents alike. Those visiting our school were in total admiration of the design and carving skills on show when viewing our display.
We are gearing up for what is set to be a very enjoyable community event this Saturday!
Sponsorship forms and money can be returned to school from tomorrow. This money goes towards each child’s entry for Saturday. There will be Tug O’ War competitions for all the children from P1 up to and including P7.
Slots for our adult team competition are filling up fast. Please contact either Mr Doyle or Mr Fitzsimons ASAP to confirm your team entry and name. Remember, a team needs to consist of 8 adults, 4 male and 4 female. The cost per team is £20.
Thank you!
An online waiver form needs to be completed by a parent/carer for each child going on the We Are Vertigo trip. The link can be found below. This needs to be done before Friday. Thanks.
