Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
P1 enjoying the fruits of their labour! As part of learning all about the 'p' sound way back in September, P1 planted their own potatoes. Today, they dug them up and the children took them home to cook for dinner.
Our P1 gardeners have also been busy planting and taking care of lots of different fruits, vegetables and herbs like mint, strawberries and peas.
As we plan for the recognition of the 50th anniversary of the school on its current site in September, we are currently accumulating archive material.
Please feel free to share the names of those in this old school picture that includes pupils and staff. If you know the year of the photo, let us know too.
Thanks.
Yesterday we had our last session of the academic year with our reading therapy dog Tula. Tula and her handler Debbie have been coming into school since March to host sessions with the children.
This new initiative has allowed our children to read in a non-judgemental environment whilst boosting their self esteem in relation to reading standards.
We sincerely thank Debbie and Tula for all their work in Sacred Heart P.S. As a memento, the boys and girls wrote their own personal stories regarding their involvement with Tula as a memorable keepsake.
School will close for the 2022/2023 academic year on Friday 30th June. It will be an 11:30am finish and non-uniform is allowed.
After School Clubs will conclude on Thursday 29th June. Breakfast Club will run every morning this week.
The annual pupil reports will be sent home on Wednesday.
Young at Heart had their last day on Friday past and it will re-open on Monday 4th September.
Thank you.
Today the boys and girls of P7 bade farewell to Sacred Heart P.S. An uplifting, joyous and at times emotional leavers’ ceremony was had as mums, dads, brothers, sisters, grannies and grandads congregated to celebrate this milestone.
Miss Crozier led a wonderful occasion, starting off with the individual awards. Brilliantly crafted reels were then shown charting the life and times of the P7’s as they progressed through their school journey. A parade of the leavers through the school was then had before photos and a celebratory lunch in the school hall.
A truly fitting end for the class of 2023!
Aoife P6
Aoife sets a fantastic example for all those around her. She comes to school every day with a huge smile on her face. This positivity is infectious and spreads to the rest of the class.
Aoife has a great work ethic and is meticulous with her studies, giving everything her best effort. All homework and classwork is completed to the highest of standards and she is showing fantastic perseverance with the Transfer Test.
Aoife’s handwriting has greatly improved. She should be proud of the effort that has gone into this.
Well done!
The school’s final netball tournament of the academic year took place in St Mary’s P.S. Newcastle yesterday. Our selection competed brilliantly in games against the hosts, St Columban’s P.S. Kilkeel and All Children’s IPS. Undefeated throughout, the Sacred Heart P.S. team finished off their season on a high!
