Mario's Ice Cream Visits Sacred Heart
The children were treated to an ice cream for their hard work and wonderful behaviour all year. Their efforts and those of the whole school community were highly commended by the Education Training Inspectorate Team (ETI) on their focused inspection of Sacred Heart Primary School. The inspectors found the standards of learning and teaching to be of a very high quality and all the areas for improvement identified during the previous inspection have been addressed. They were extremely impressed with current school performance. Well done everyone!
Parental Maths Classes
Many thanks to all of our parents for attending the recent Maths Workshops. Parents were provided with important information regarding popular maths strategies to assist them in developing their children's knowledge of the four rules of number within the home setting. They had an opportunity to sample a range of mental maths websites, apps and practical resources. It is anticipated in the near future that there will be classes provided on Problem Solving.
Local Artists and Designers, Patrick and Rita Ward, delivered a week long Art Workshop to the children of Sacred Heart PS. During the Art Workshop, P5/6/7 children made their own Solar System complete with rockets, satellites, aliens and moons! Numerous houses and homes, such as aquariums, snake houses, dolls' houses and castles were made by children in P3/4. Pupils in P1 also made their own jungle birds that were so colourful and creative. A massive thanks to Patrick and Rita for sharing their talents and providing the children with an unforgettable experience.
Christmas Show 2016
Congratulations to all our children on their wonderful performance of Scrooge and The Noisy Nativity. Below is a selection of photos from the show. More photos to follow next week! Well done to everyone!
Local Performance Psychologist Cormac Venny delivered a presentation on Promoting Positive Behaviour as part of Anti-Bullying Week. It was a huge success and the pupils throughly enjoyed it. They received important information on breathing when making decisions, positive self talk, promoting self confidence, respecting/appreciating others and the importance of good preparation for school. It was a throughly enjoyable session for both pupils and adults!
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Assembly
Members of the CLIC Sargent Fundraising Team visited Pupil of the Month Assembly today. They fully explained all of the great work that CLIC Sargent does with children that have cancer and their families. Pupils also got to try out some of the very fun activities that they will be doing in the Boxercise circuit on Friday 21st October. It was a great way to provide motivation to all of our fundraising efforts.
