Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Saturday 7th October sees the annual GR8 Dundrum Run come to the village once again. As ever, Sacred Heart P.S. are delighted to be able to offer our facilities to the club over the course of the weekend in assisting with registrations and preparation. It is important for us as a school to be an integral cog in supporting community events.
Charley P5
Charley has made a fine start to her time in P5. She has settled into her new surroundings so well.
She has made such positive strides with her subjects particularly in literacy. Her attention to detail, sentence formation and creative writing ideas really mark her out as having a recognisable strength in this area.
Charley is a wonderful team player and works diligently within group settings. She is a logical thinker and when she offers her viewpoints and opinions, they are always well formed and thought out.
Charley is an excellently behaved girl who is such an important part of the class dynamic.
Keep up the superb attitude and application!
Well done!
September is drawing to a close and today at assembly it was an opportunity to recognise our first Pupil of the Month winners for the new academic year.
There were solid efforts all around as James (P1), Liam (P2), Roisé (P3), Rosie-Leigh (P4), Gerard (P5), Charlie (P6) and Freya (P7) were all awarded recognition due to their outstanding endeavours.
Well done!
As part of a new collaborative initiative we have created the 'Muck in Monday' concept. These days will take place once a term. They will provide an opportunity for our P4 to P7 children to come together with parents, family and members of our school community in an effort to clean, tidy and maintain our school estate.
Our first get together will take place from 1:30pm to 3pm on Monday 9th October. It promises to be a fun and worthwhile venture as we all take great pride in our surroundings!
The response to our request for old photos and archive material related to the school has been phenomenal! Thank you to all who have sent stuff in so far.
We are just three weeks away from our ‘Trip Down Memory Lane’ event in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the school on its current site.
We are still seeking photos etc. Please leave them into school (they will be returned), email them to mfitzsimons956@c2kni.net, WhatsApp to 07523228422 or simply message them through to our Facebook page.
Thank you
The boys and girls enjoyed Dr Bike Day today as part of Cycle to School Week.
Many thanks to John Ross of Ross Cycles who visited the school to deliver an informative session. John spent time discussing with each class the importance of being aware of bike safety. He went through everything from proper cycling attire to how to maintain your bike.
The children eagerly participated in the Q&A and asked plenty of interesting questions. John was delighted to visit the school again and everyone was glad to get freshened up on bike safety.

Recently Nearby ran a Facebook competition for one lucky winner to win a £50 Smyth’s Toy Store voucher and £150 sponsorship for their school.
We were delighted to learn last week that the winner chosen was our P7 pupil Ronan! His superb entry blew the judges away and ranked the best of the lot.
Today, Ronan received his framed winning competition entry along with his voucher and the sponsorship contribution to the school. Pictured with him is past pupil Bernie Murdock, proprietor of Nearby in Dundrum.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
